Apologies if this has been asked before. I have a 20 inch barrel and I’m curious on which will work better for precision shooting? I have a FH now that I can use. Should I buy a Muzzle break for it? Witch one? I don’t shoot with a suppressor at the moment. TIA

A flash hider is designed to do just that, hide the muzzle flash from the bad guys. A muzzle brake is designed to reduce recoil and muzzle rise when the gun is shot. Not all muzzle brakes are as efficient as each other. Some are muzzle brakes in name only, others work very well and there are many in between.

If you aren’t competing then leave the brake off. I would wager even with double ear protection, a brake is still causing hearing damage especially if you shoot under a roof and not out in the wide open. They are too damn loud for recreational shooting.

For competitors, i can understand there use when in a contest.

ive been shooting brakes forever, you just need quality muffs and or plugs
no reason not to unless you are worried about the guy next to you
why take a beating or make recoil management harder than it should be
Agree. The hearing damage issue is bogus. Shooting handguns indoors is way louder and easily doable with double hearing protection.

depending on what you're doing, a muzzle brake can really help, but you might want to double up on ear protection.

some ideas and you get the gist that the majority of brakes are about 50% effective in reducing recoil.
some also reduce flip, making tracking shots "theoretically" easier.
