The FLIR T75 Advanced Combat Thermal Sight – Long Range (ACTS-LR) is an uncooled thermal clip-on weapon sight with a low, in-line opto-mechanical profile suitable for modern weaponry with flip-down or removable front sight posts. The low profile compliments current Rifle Combat Optics (RCO’s) and minimizes height above the rail. The ACTS-LR provides scene clarity and allows the use of false color to enable rapid target acquisition and firing solutions using a high density, color Organic Light Emitting Display (OLED).
The ACTS-LR has been specifically designed and optimized for long range weapon platforms with an approximate 875 yard identification range. The size and weight make it ideal for tactical small arms such as the FN SCAR-MK16/17, M4/M16, SR25 all the way up to M107 .50 BMG and similar platforms.
The ACTS-LR converts the operation of day scopes to thermal imaging, extending the useful period of operation from daylight into nighttime. By mounting the ACTS-LR directly in front of the day scope, the operator can view the same scene with the ability to sense infrared energy (heat) in all lighting conditions. It is optimized for use with day scopes up to 12x. The ACTS-LR can also be used as a stand alone weapon sight and handheld thermal viewer.
The ACTS-LR is powered by the three AA batteries or two CR123 batteries. Battery life is approximately 5 hours at 20 degrees C with three lithium AA batteries and 4 hours at 20 degrees C with two CR123 batteries. The batteries can be removed and replaced in the field without removing the ACTS-SR from the weapon system.
The FLIR T75 was developed for SOCOM for use with long range magnified optics. It is optimized to provide the best image when paired with 8x magnification, but can be used with scopes up to 12-14x without much loss of image fidelity due to its native 640×512 sensor. This high resolution sensor provides incredibly crisp detail and shading for rich images and easier target identification.
The FLIR T75 features the standard white hot/black hot polarity modes. But, it also has the ability to show images in full color using several palette options.
Gray (Grayscale) Palette provides maximum contrast on targets against a uniform background using black and white shades.
Iron Palette provides a color scale that goes from dark red through yellow to white to represent increasing temperatures.
Rain (Rainbow) Palette uses all the colors of the rainbow from red through green, blue, and yellow to violet to represent increasing temperatures.
Ice (Fire & Ice) Palette displays blue for cold targets and red for hot targets.
Another useful feature of the T75 is the remote cable control. This allows the operator to set up the joystick controls elsewhere on the weapon for easier access without breaking the firing grip/position. Have you used a t75 yet? It doesn't have 0.5x mode as I recall. I guess it can be used as a stand alone. Would love to see some 8-12x pics. Maybe I should just buy one......

Yes, the T-75 is a totally awesome instrument for engaging out 800+ meters, which is way beyond my night hunting capabilities with my 556 and 7.62mm.

It would be bad ass on a .338 Lapua or .50 cal Barrett though when you could utilize all that power.

Paper wise it appears to be similar - but that doesn't mean squat. Curious on feedback from actual user.

If a user was 40% close range and 60% long range would this be a good fit?

Forget close range, it is a long range instrument.

I am going to mount a T-75 in front of one of my ELCAN 1.5-6X-42mm scopes and take some video kills and let you know how I like it, primarily off one of my shooting stands with about a 300 yard view. I have one place on a powerline grade with a mile long 100 foot wide view that I just mowed with the bush hog last weekend, will take some video out there too, just shot two hogs there last night with the T-70:

Head shots, Bam Bam, two shots two seconds apart, two dead shoats.

This update is available to anyone who owns a T-70. The up charge to convert with be $2100.00 and will normally take 2-3 weeks to complete. Presently the FLIR Pittsburgh manufacturing facility is moving to Boston, so current wait time is 6 weeks.

This would be a call into TNVC special order as this is not on our web site.

I am impressed with the 7.3 inch length of the T-75 as compared to my Apollo 8.5 inches ... so roughly 1 and a quarter shorter ... that is perhaps more significant than it sounds when every .25 inch of rail space counts when trying to mount clip ons to day scopes and still retain best eye relief and keep forward most objective away from muzzle gas.

Of course, I'll have to wait for the price to come down by about 70% before I can afford one!

The T-75 weight seems to be 1.75 pounds versus Apollo 1.5 pounds ...

T-75 sweet spot high end magnification reported to be 8x versus Apollo 6x ... TNVC reports 12x-14x is do-able ... I've fired my Apollo at 9x though usually less as I don't shoot at 1000+ yds at night on my land at 9x the Apollo had a tiny bit of pixelation, but that did not inhibit my purpose. What is interesting is that the T-75 can achieve support for higher magnification with a shorter clipon.

The one clearly negative thing I note about the T-75 is the frame rate, which is stated to be 30 Hz on the TNVC web site ... my Apollo is 60 Hz. When panning across a landscape, my 60 Hz is still a little bit jerky, but settles down as my panning slows down. If this frame rate was halved, I would expect additional jerkiness. For those who would use the device for hunting ... this frame rate difference might be significant. Given the $16,900 price point of the T-75, I'm surprised at the 30 Hz frame rate. Perhaps the TNVC web site has a typo on this point.

Oh, one more item ... the TNVC web site shows warranty of "1 year" whereas Armasight web site shows 10 years warranty for the (Flir) "core" and 3 years for "other" (i.e the housing). Perhaps the TNVC offering has a similar "dual" warranty that is not clarified on the web site.

Would be nice, but unfortunately I called FLIR Government Systems HQ in Pittsburg and after discussing this issue with them, they referred me to their Channel Partner TNVC.

But will even be nicer with the 100mm T-75 on the top rail in front of the ELCAN!

60 hz is more of a marketing gimmick with thermal cores since they operate at 30hz and the video driver is amped up to 60hz. You actually loose clarity and resolution during the video driver overclocking the microbolometer since the thermal resistors are cycling at 30hz and there is some time lag for the video frames. If you are shooting out of a helicopter or a vehicle traveling over 60 mph then it may be of some benefit for you, otherwise it is not necessary for any hunting purposes. For best clarity and resolution, stick with 30hz.

For a frame of reference, the video cameras recording a NASA rocket or a NASCR race all operate at 30hz and there is no problem with a 30hz frame rate recording objects moving hundreds of miles per hour. It certainly is zero problem for any hunting application unless your hogs are much faster than Tony Stewart.

The FLIR GS T-70/T-75 are not marketed as consumer items, they are military spec contract instruments, and as such do not carry the 10 year consumer warranty.

Seriously doubt you will be wearing one out anytime soon though:

You must be right, but TNVC also seems to buy in to the "marketing hype" ... per their web site ... regarding the TSW-3000 ...

... On top of that, the TWS-3000 series are some of the only thermal imaging devices available to the commercial public with a 60 Hz refresh rate. Frame Rate lag is almost zero during quick panning and tracking of fast-moving objects...

60hz give you two identical frames each at 30hz, it is not true 60hz broadcast from the core.

Humans cannot detect over 24 frames per second with the neural ophthalmic nerve channel, so video is produced at 29.97 NTSC frames per second to make sure that there is no retinal-neural interference.

60 frames per second receivers is mostly used just to reduce the inherent interference between 30hz systems (television sets, fluorescent lights, video cameras, shuttered cameras, etc.)

Hey guys, so a few months back I was going to purchase a t70 but was then told about the t75 so decided to wait. The main reason for this is that when spending this kind of money I wanted to get a device that was extremely versatile. I would love to throw this on my black guns as well as my long range rifles. With that said, do you think the t75 would be my best bet? Which would have a better overall image? I know the specs and the main differences that concern me are the 0.5x compared to 1.0x (with the former being better for short range IMO) and the whole 30 Hz vs 60 Hz. My final question is this (and please excuse my ignorance on this)...does it really even matter which device you get if you are only use it as a clip on anyways? In other words, wouldn't the daytime scope you place it in front of matter more than optics of the thermal itself? Would the t75 be a complete waste of money if you are using it in front of SB PMII anyways?

It has been said that the quality of the day scope when using thermal is far less important as you are bascially looking at a TV screen image. Day scope glass quality is more important when using a Clip On Night Vision scope as light tramsmission is a key factor.

Indeed true, in the I^2 world quality of glass is a huge deal for the upper magnification ranges of 8x+ with a quality clip-on. I've have seen some pretty low end day scopes work well with a AN/PVS-22 at 4x only, but defeats the purpose.

The title pretty much says it all. This thermal footage, is to my knowledge (unless I am totally mistaken) capturing the very first hogs killed with the new FLIR T75 that was released a few weeks ago. This took place 12 July in Victoria, Texas at Wild River Ranch. We had a great time hunting with the guys out there that weekend, and really can't say enough good things about those folks.

The first pig eRIC shot at, ran off screen and eventually died to the left of where we were set up. The second pig was pretty tough as well. He eventually croaked on the third shot, though. The 77 grain match ammo I was using, was just punching straight through them, leaving clean entry and exit wounds.

To my knowledge, these are the first hog kills with the FLIR T75 since it was released, a few weeks ago. This video took place at Wild River Ranch in Victoria, Texas.

*The ambient crickets and gunshot noises were added to simulate conditions. The DVR I recorded this video with, does not have an active mic to pick up audio.

My loadout for this was:
5.56 SPR build
77grain match ammunition
FLIR T75 clip-on thermal mounted in front of a Trijicon ACOG

Before this video started, at the distance we are in the video itself, my spotter called PID on the hogs, with his magnified I^2 (isquared) device. The distance on the shots, were roughly 100 yards. You may be able to tell from the footage, but the grass was about knee high where the hogs were, and they were on somewhat of a gradual downward slope. This made it pretty challenging to estimate my holds and ensure my rounds weren't going to plant themselves in the dirt of the slope that was just between them and I. There are a lot of things I could have done differently on this stalk/kill, however, overall I'm happy with the performance.

It's important to note, that around the 52-55 second mark, I was actually planning on taking them together, as close as I could get them, HOWEVER, with thermal (which is no fault of its own) I couldn't identify head from ass. This same thing would apply to a bad guy laying down. Understanding when to take a shot, and when not to, is the true key to a good hunt. Patience was never my strong suit, but it's something that had to be learned and applied when taking shots on animals or bad guys.

Hey all,

I am in the market for a clip on thermal that will give me the best bang for the buck. Initially I was researching the T60 but after reading through some of the comments my choice is still open. Mostly night ferrel hog hunting down here in TX also will be the primary application. We currently all run nvd (anvs/pvs14) sbr/sd AR platforms but recently started trying to go longer range. Any suggestions? Ultimately I'd like to get a system that will work between multiple magnified or unmagnified optic platforms.

Those are some sweet toys and some nice pork! So how does the long range T75 do with unmagnified optics? Are you able to use it as a stand alone device also? I've read the LCD screen image can be small on clip on models like that requiring a magnified optic to really use them effectively.

Included some of the pork variety we are running into down here. I can only take credit for the small one. The big one was taken by my buddy with his scar. Really looking forward to adding thermal to the hunt. Just have to find one that won't bankrupt me. Lol

You can certainly use it as a standalone thermal scope at 1X, 2X, or 4X digital magnification with either the 5.56mm NATO or 7.62mm NATO digital BDC reticules in it, but like you said you'd be looking at a squared off microbolometer image through the T-75 ocular as you would on other thermal weapon scopes similar to this one. Due to the huge honking germanium lens, it picks up a very detailed thermal emission environment.

I much prefer to use it in clip-on mode with my ACOGs or Elcans.

Regarding your SCAR, it does handle up to .50BMG, so no worries on recoil issues....

T-60 will handle 6-8x, I use mine in front of an ACOG or ELCAN, Flir canned the T-76 project.

I am using the 1.5-6X-42mm Elcan on my 7.62mms.....it is a great optic, especially with the T-75 as you can get a WFOV using the lower magnification of the Elcan.

In order to have the entire T-75 thermal optic with the digital icons present, you need to keep it at 4X or below. With your 6X ACOG you will not be able to see any of the icons, however it will still work just great. The mount height of the ACOG will match the T-75 perfectly.

My ACOGs are the TA02 4X-32mm ones and I only use them on the 556s due to recoil from the 7.62mm at night, I am also using the LDI DBAL-D2 Vis/IR laser/IR Illum.


Overall, at 6X your FOV will be limited with the ACOG, it will be the same as it is during the day without the T-75, but at night more FOV is very helpful. That is why I really like the Elcan 1.5-6X with this powerful thermal clipon scope, you can use WFOV if needed...

That LDI DBAL A3H is a restricted laser IIIb, it would be worthless for any type of night hunting anyhow, you are much better off with a civilian legal 0.7mW IR laser, in fact even better is to install an LDI Neutral Density Filter over the IR laser to lower it down to about 0.1mW for pinpoint accuracy.

Couple of FLIR T-75 StandAlone Mode through the tube photos showing their internal digital 7.62mm NATO BDC reticule in my backyard in the rain of some vultures feeding on hog carrion, the unit also has an internal digital 5.56mm NATO BDC you can easily switch to also.

It functions as a StandAlone very good, but works even better up to 8X with a day optic....
