I just picked up an FN 5-7 MKII NIB with 500 Rounds of SS198 (2050 FPS Green Tip) rounds for 1000$ including shipping. I am going to break it in, and start carrying it instead of the USP Compact 40. An extra 8 rounds, and it weighs less. Tracking says it will arrive tomorrow. Im really excited as I have fired had some range time in with it more than once. I am also waiting on an order completion for the DBAL-PL Dual Vis/IR Laser that also has dual Vis/IR Illumination. I don't know when that will arrive, but the card has been charged so I am hoping soon. The laser will be more for just fun, but I am excited about changing my concealed carry weapon up. the H&K USP Compact 40 has served me well, but the 5-7 I hope will do just as well.

That's a screaming deal. I always liked the concept of the FIVE SEVEN but never the prices. I'd like to see a size comparison once you have them both in the same place.

We shall see tomorrow or Saturday at the latest (tracking says tomorrow). I am not really comfortable posting photos of my weapons online. But I will do a temporary period for them, or figure out something. (I don't like paper trails lol)

Well you're welcome to just describe the difference. I can understand not wanting to post

I didn't forget about you, I just lost the post. As to size comparison. The 5-7 is just a little smaller than the HK 45 Tactical, or the FNX 45 Tactical. Almost the same size as a standard 1911. Weight wise its less weight (with the laser/light) attached. The HK USP 40 Compact is almost the same size as the RUGER SR9C with the small magazine (10 round) in the Ruger. So to anser your question its about the same size as a 45, but weighs less even with the 45 naked, and the 5-7 with a light on it. It holds more rounds, weighs less, and is thinner, but just as long. If your looking at the H&K 45 tactical its the same length as without the threaded barrel just about. When comparing to the Compact model handguns like the H&K 40 Compact, the 5-7 is the same height, same width, about 1 and 1/2 inches longer, and holds 8 more rounds. and weighs 1/2lb or more less depending on your load. (with the light on the weapon, and the other weapons naked). It even feels lighter than the Ruger SR9C compact. And I believe it is lighter by about .1 or .2 oz unloaded. When loaded the 5-7 has a bigger advantage.

I've shot a friend's five seven on several occasions and honestly love its accuracy, light weight and round count. Unfortunately, the reason i havent considered getting one is the abundance and cost of the 5.7 round. Its just not practical. But you seem to have gotten quite a deal and I really hope you enjoy it.

Surprisingly there is a lot of 5.7 ammo available locally. I would certainly be curious to try one out but not curious enough to buy one without trying it.

I always thought that a smaller version would go over well just on account of capacity. No plans for one to be made EVER from what I have read though. It's a unique system for sure. Thanks for sharing doc

Nothing soon at least, they are working on compact models of the standard firearms right now.

I have always like the idea of the FiveseveN pistol, but FNH is just too proud of their stuff. If the 5.7 pistol was offered at a price competative with the Glock pistol, I would own one, but at the cost of two (2!!!) Glocks, or XDs I just can't justify the purchase. I think the mostly plastic pistol would be awesome at $600, but at $1200+ it's not THAT awesome. Similarly the p-90 carbine is cool especially with the SBR version, but the cost is just too high. Two decent ARs with 60 round Surefire mags can be purchased for the cost of the p-90, and 5.56 ammo is everywhere. Sorry FN. Get your prices back down here on the dirt in stead of in the stratosphere, and you will sell more. For now, these guns are ones I'll shoot if my buddy got suckered into buying one, but I'm not buying.
