    So CA
Anyone know what’s going on with FN Scar availability? Looking for a 17s in FDE but none of my usual dealers have one.

I wonder if it has something to do with the government shutdown and Scar 17s being Belgium made. Customs and all that?

    Anyone have any idea?

I was looking for one myself a few months ago. After many calls to dealers and a few posts on forums (Including this one) I bought the new POF Revolution in 308. Very glad I did. Even though I didnt want (Another AR) this one sets it self apart from others. Not sure your intended use, but mine was a lightweight hunting 308 with a 16" barrel.

A store local to me has one. I'll call them when they open and get a price. When I was in there last, I believe the price was in the $4k ballpark but dont quote me on that.

Even psa recently had them in stock for weeks.
Sounds like your luck is about like mine :)
They seem to come in one or twice a year. Been like that since they were introduced I think.

Thanks for the responses guys. Good to know it’s likely cyclical.

I see them in stock at some places for $3500. Everyone I know paid less than $3k for one so I’d feel like a fool paying more, especially in the current market.

I’m gonna have to wait it out until they’re more available. :)

keep an eye on the secondary market

This. $3000 is now the LE/MIL price on these. There are a few lucky buyers finding under-listed 17s at retailers, but those deals are uncommon and growing more so.

It's not hard to find a like new or excellent FDE17s for around $3000 on one of the resale forums that will often come with a Super SCAR trigger and/or a pile of magazines at that price. I found one on the PX here that ended up being $2800 with (9) factory magazines and a VTAC sling after I sold the included accessories I did not want.

For the most part, the used SCAR 17s you will see have not been shot that hard, as most people aren't going to flog a $3000 rifle, or at least don't actually use it like a heavy carbine due to ammo costs.

What I would watch for is evidence of it being shot suppressed and/or with heavy loads too much. It's really easy to put SCAR 17s in an 'overgassed' state and they really beat themselves up more than an AR10 style rifle when they do.

With regular ball ammunition and lighter bullet stuff, they would probably chug along forever with no problems.

Trading Place Pawn and Gun Range in Monroe, Ga has a fde 17. Not sure on the price. If it’s not on their website give them a call. They’re good people.

If you are looking to buy a new scar patience is always key. When the wave gets dry, i've seen people pay ridiculous prices for their scars.

I have a black none for sale, with every upgrade imaginable. I've owned three different scars over the years. IMO the rifle is outdated, and to get it up to speed, in order of importance you want to get the G trigger, mrex handguard, angled charging handle, grip, kdg buttstock. I added the seal lower, mostly for bling, and to get rid of the plastic lower.

If you do want the upgrades, you are going to save a lot of money buying it used with those upgrades already on.

Love my SCAR-16 (yeah, I know we're talking about 17s here). I got it a long time ago, when they were new and scarce. Paid $2700. I've got a bit over 1600 rounds through it. Fun rifle to shoot, and fun to share with other shooters. Always gets a grin and the same comment, "Smooth!"

Mine is completely stock... no optic, even. I like shooting it with the iron sights. :) I might have to try the Geiselle trigger on it some day.

excellent, enjoy! I am considering just taking mine off the marketplace. they are excellent rifles.
