I've not purchaed the trigger yet and I want to ask the following to anyone who has an FN SPR and has installed a Timney trigger....

Question - I have an FN SPR and want to install a Timney trigger. Will I need to remove any material from the stock in the trigger area in order to get this trigger to fit? It is boxy and the stock trigger assembly has a much lower profile. Any experiences on this would be appreciated. Also, are there any "gotcha's" with regard to installing the actual trigger? The directions reference the possibility of removing some metal at times. Thanks in advance.

Re: FN SPR - question for installing Timney Trigger

I had one in a first gen SPR. IIRC I had to take the dremel to the stock DBM bottom metal for the Timney to clear. Not a lot, and touched it up with a black sharpee. As the BM has not changed (other than the material) from 1st to 2nd Gen, you will most likely need to do the same.

Rifle basix requires no such work.

I had to do the same to mine... a4 and a5 stocks. The timney has a allen screw and nut to lock the trigger to the bottom of the action. I had to remove some materal from the stock for it all to fit. I also had to tweak the bolt release spring a little more to the rear as well. Take your time and read the directions, if you have the slightest mechanical ability you should be fine.

well I got the trigger installed w/o issue. I had to remove a little of the stock material where the front locking screw made contact. Over all it was about a 20min job. Thanks for the input.

These instructions were much better than those included in the package. It also helped to take pics of how the spring was oriented.
