Wondering if anybody has shot enough rounds to tell that the chrome lining actually increases accurate barrel life.

I have 900+ down my spr a-1. It shoots between .30 and .70....haven't noticed the groups getting better due to more rounds being fired. I think getting to the range every 2 weeks is what makes good grouping.

I too dont have enough rounds through to see if barrel life is extended with the chromed barrel but i can say that cleaning could'nt be easier.

I put just over 2000 through mine before I rebarreled it. It didn't need rebarreling(shot great) I just got tired of shooting a 308 so I sent it off to be rebarreled in 6.5x47L.

I had 1200 very accurate rounds through my first SPR barrel before the chrome took a shit.
If you have the means, don't hesitate when you think it is time for a new barrel. SPR's SHINE when you you spin on a proper barrel.

As long as the chrome plating is not defective, it makes cleaning easier and really does increase barrel life. FN seems pretty good about service issues, so even if you got a bad one to start they will replace it.

While I have no knowledge of the "barrel life-extending" properties of chrome lining--the "easy cleaning" attribute only is relevant when comparing a factory chrome lined barrel to factory non chrome lined. A well made custom barrel is a TON easier to clean then even the sweetest factory SPR chrome barrel.
