I want to improve my TSR. Specifically, I want to put it in a better stock with AI Mag compatibility. And I want to thread the barrel.

Anybody done similar work with this platform?

Anybody willing to part with a compatible used stock?

Any gunsmith recommendations or any interested smiths out there want to PM me and get this project in the works?

Stocks: McMillian and Manners (the should have an inlet, call to make sure)
Bottom Metal: CDI, they will also inlet your stock and notch your action for a minimal or free charge

The only chassis that I’m aware of is XLR.

Gunsmiths? PVA, LRI, SPR, Spartan Precision Rifles, SAC, MHSA, GAP, and I’m sure I’m missing some. Call them all, get a quote for lead times and prices. From there, pick which which one suits your fancy best and go with them, you can’t loose.

Used stocks? Put up a WTB ad in the accessories tab in the PX and see what happens.

I’m happy and sad to see you go this route. Happy because I now won’t have to buy your rifle, sad because I can’t buy your rifle!

Have fun!

Oh my old SPR enjoied the Sierra 155 TMKs (with my very mediocre reloading skills), but I’m sure you can use any quality 155 - 168 grain (some 175s, just check them out on the Berger Calculator before buying a larger box) bullet and have great results.

I think the pros for these mags are they are shorter than AI pattern ones and not many people use them. I haven't had any reliability issues with them and their COAL capacity looks to be the same as AI off the top of my head... I could be wrong and I'm out of the country so I won't be able to measure/compare the two. They are also cheaper than steel AI but the magpul AI ones can be found for cheaper than the FN ones..... Hope that helps.

Going the AI-mag route has its advantages. More features and parts availability, generally for a lower price than what is offered from FN.

The downside is that the action will have to be modified to accept that mag system.

Honestly, for a TSR I don't know how much money you'll really want to put into it.

FN offers the TBM (tactical box magazine) kit. It's expensive, but its installation is simple compared to the AI stuff.
Muzzle brake.
Any sort of McMillan stock would offer slightly more rigidity but at the cost of more weight compared to the Hogue stock.
Have the trigger adjusted for a lighter pull...there is absolutely no need to replace it all together.

Those are the basics that could be addressed for a moderate price. Anything more than that I think would be unnecessary. The TSR was intended to serve as a lightweight bolt-action platform. If you add too much to it, you risk marginalizing its intended function.

I may have exactly what you are looking for. McMillan A4 with saddle cheek piece and factory FN TBM with five and ten round factory mags. I tried to PM you but your settings don't allow. Both items are new.
