FNAR, no love?

i kind of expected to see at least a little fnar talk around here? i did a search with very few results...
i recently got one and i have to say, its sweet! everyone jumps to the fact that its complicated and not easy to field strip, but it doesnt get dirty! theres no need to open it up often. even so, its not that difficult. if you are intelligent enough to be trusted with firearms, you can easily do it quickly. fn could have been a little cooler with the tools needed tho... a giant flat head screwdriver is the first tool you need, its not something you carry around. well now i do, but... once thats done theres only 2 screws and a number of pins to push out. way easier than i expected after reading everyone complain.
i havent had a chance to shoot at any longer ranges yet, but it seems like it should work well?
the design is pretty nice, more complicated than an ar or bolt rifle, but not much different than any other semi auto hunting rifles or shotguns. the trigger is much better than the average ar, feels good.
seems the fnar would be more popular?

You don't hear much about this rifle but it is a very good and very accurate rifle. I did take a look at this rifle a couple of years ago, I did research on this gun and found that people who owned this rifle really loved it. If you google test review on a FNAR you will find a pretty deep review on it, talks about all the good and bad. Overall I like this rifle, it is very reliable and does not get that dirty which means you don't have to clean it often. By the way you have a very nice rifle, shoot the hell out of it and enjoy it.

I owned one briefly and didn't care for the ergonomics much less the looks.

Speaking honestly, I found that it was one of those rifles that, although accurate, lacked an identity.

I am a big fan of FN products in general but not this one. With a piston-driven, chrome-lined barrel the gun could definitely shoot.

I just couldn't get past the looks of this gun. It seemed Frankensteined and seemed uncomfortable to shoot.

That's my thoughts anyway.

while researching the rifle i heard lots of people saying they didnt like the looks.. i was on the fence. but i got it and used the stock shim that raised the stock upward, then added the high cheek rest and i kinda like the looks now! it has a straight line look, not that sloped down butt... i think it points perfectly now, i can get behind it with my eyes closed and when i open them its perfect! thats all i can ask for..
i was expecting to have some things bother me, but after spending time with it.. i really like it! looks have grown on me too, has a really meaty look in hand... feels a bit heavy tho.. to make it worse, i added some weight inside the butt. it was fairly nose heavy, or butt light.. whatever ya want to call it! it didnt balance in your hands well, but now its pretty good! its a damn nice rifle i think.

I have shot my uncles several times. It shoots sub MOA with quality ammo. The only bad thing about the rifle is its not as adaptable as an M1A or an AR10 style rifle, but then again it does not cost as much either.

Ive got a 20" Heavy that was Threaded by mark at SAC and I have since put on a PWS PRC brake. It also has the trigger worked at 2.24 pounds. Sad thing is I have yet to shoot it. Literally every time I get around to shoot it, something comes up and I can't. I think its cursed LOL. My brother has a 1400 yard Lane between two fields that he can shoot down. Of course the last time we went to shoot a big John Deere was sitting right in the middle of the lane for no reason. Ticked Me Off!! lol

This rifle is the type where you either love it or you hate it, that has been my experience from those I know who either owned them or shot them. Personally I liked the looks, it was different but a good rifle from what they say.

I know it is fairly accurate but being so FUGLY, high priced mags and being stuck with that stock ~ it dropped off my list.

OT but........My brother has a 1400 yard Lane between two fields that he can shoot down. Of course the last time we went to shoot a big John Deere was sitting right in the middle of the lane for no reason. Ticked Me Off!! lol

Could've been a polite "Stop shooting on my farm.".

I can tell you I have a good friend and co-worker that knows better (Sniper Team Member) who has one of these. Not sure what he was thinking or how long he let it go, but on a hunting trip we were on he got burned bad on a malfunction with this rifle. It was so cold, his rifle was down for the count. Had to switch to a backup rifle. It did cost him a deer. Fate smiled on him and gave him a second chance on the last day of the trip.

I wish I knew more about what he specifically did, I was too busy trying to fill my tag. But the short answer is he didn't clean that rifle.

Just say'n. Get used to opening that baby up or get something else.

In closing. I like 'em. When a deal comes along, I will grab it.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but my eye ain't beholding any. Very well could be a fantastic shooter, but that is the Glock of the rifle world. Different strokes...

The FNAR is not adaptable at all....huge white elephant and apparent Achilles heel. People want a variety in accessories and modularity, neither of which the FNAR can offer.

The FNAR may have a initial lower cost at purchase, but when you want to start accumulating mags, they are 2 to 3 times as much as M1A/Magpul/Armalite mags. What happens if you want to rebarrel?

Well considering it the farmer is the previous owner of my brothers house and that they are really good friends, I doubt it
