Been reading this forum for a couple of months. Lots of good info here.
I have a NF NXS 5.5 -22 X 50 with NP-R1 reticle. This is my first one. I'm having a problem getting the reticle into focus ( sharp image ).Shooting at 100 yds. I've tried turning the eyepiece but the reticle does not become sharp. Am I doing something wrong? I didn't want to turn the eyepiece too far out.
Thanks for your help,
Hillcountry

Re: Focusing NF

They just take a lot of turning to get anywhere. Keep trying and only glance at the reticle quickly between adjustments. Try a complete spin at a time unitl you get really close.

Do not "watch" the reticle as you turn the diopter adjustment, turn, then check briefly. If you keep your eye on it while turning your eye will be trying to compensate for minuscule changes as NF's diopter threads are VERY fine.

Re: Focusing NF

I agree, look at the target and make a 1/4 turn out at a time, it takes a full turn to get it sharp in all scopes I have, If you get all the way out and it's still fuzzy at 1st glance the scope may have a problem. That reticle should get pretty sharp.

Mine took a lot more turns than I thought. I think it was only on the third try of messing with it I got it right. They have very fine threads.

Re: Focusing NF

I adjust mine beginning at the setting with it all the way screwed in. I then set it to max magnification and max parallax and look at a close, white wall in good light. I look quickly into the reticle (no more than a couple seconds) and if it's sharp , I lock it and I'm good. If it's not sharp, I stop looking, adjust the focus a bit, refocus my eyes on something far away and then repeat the above until I have it set as sharp as possible for my eyes.
