I am going to be ordering a surgeon rifle soon and have a question. If I order with just a regular aics 1.5 chassis it will be 4-6 months for what I want. They have a rifle ready to ship with everything the same as I want except it has an ai ax chassis. My question is with the break in the stock where it folds cause any extra vibration which could have an effect on the round. My intent with this rifle is to start shooting precision rifle tactical matches such as those in the PRS. thanks for all of the help and replies.

I'd get the AX if it's ready right away. It's lighter, and with the AT version of the AICS coming out it makes no sense to me to get the old version.
I haven't been able to find the weight on the AT chassis, that might complicate things for you.
I've never shot a folding stock gun that I noticed a difference with it locked. Be wary that most folders only lock closed and just flap around while open.
The AI folders are not loose, folded or not. They balance the rifle better by adding some weight towards the back. There isn't any crazy harmonics to worry about screwing up the accuracy. I'd bet 2/3's of the guys you're going to shoot with have folders.
Thanks for the replies. The ax may be worth the extra $500 then to have it now and not in 6 months. As for the at complicating things. I don't think I have to worry about that as 1) I don't think surgeon offers it yet and 2) I would still have to wait the 6 months even if they do.
They have an AICS AX specific magazine that has a lip on the front of the magazine but the chassis will still function reliably with standard AICS magazines. The only thing you can't do is use a AICS AX magazine in a standard AICS chassis or DBM because of the lip on the front.
I would buy the Surgeon in stock model now. Just sell off the Ax if you end up not liking it
