Hey all, I've got a .308 1500 sitting in a MCS 2 right now. I've been weighing the next step to take with it.

For you guys that own them, who does good quality work on them? I know the metric threads throw a lot of smiths off and they don't want to deal with it. I'll be looking to have the stock bedded, larger bolt handle installed, and maybe a caliber swap to 6.5 CM or .260 later on.

I have one has my primary lr rifle I love it shot half in groups with its factory 308 barrel on it. 8000 rounds on in and it started to open up it is now at PacNor getting a new barrel in 6.5 47 lapua put on. The action is very nice and smooth alot smoother than any rem 700 that I have felt. I made me a new bolt knob on it I just ground the existing knob down to 5/16 and hand threaded it and got a peace of aluminum and made a new knob. I love my howa and probley not use any thing elce

Check out Mark Gordon at short action customs. He is just wrapping up a howa build for me as we speak

IMG_2287.jpgI'd give Steve Pratt a call at Elk Meadow Performance (801)-232-5833. He does exceptional work and is realistic when it comes to price and timelines.
He has done a Howa 6.5x47 Lapua in a T4A stock with a Hart #5 barrel for my tactical setup and then he also put together an awesome kids rifle in the same caliber built on a Vanguard action. Both rifles had a trigger job done on them while he had them apart and I must say they break crisply at 2 lbs. Both rifles have produced superb accuracy with Amax, Nosler, and Lapua bullets.
