City Water and Sewer for me (well County Water Utility), but I don't trust that water for drinking/cooking. I can barely shower and brush teeth with it.

Bottled water only for drinking/cooking.

Have a well but need to bring it back online. New submersible pump and pressure tank, battery and solar back up would be nice, and a way to tie in an old fashioned hand pump wouldn't be a bad idea. My other place? Year round creek and a spring 15 feet across the dirt road.

I’ve got county at the house, a well, and a hand pump in the backyard. The hand pump needs a new leather seal but is tied to the well

I catch rainwater off the roofs: barn, farmhouse, & workshop building. The barn fills a concrete horse trough 6'x8' x30" deep and never gets used much. It turns green in the hot weather... The house feeds into a 7000 gallon underground concrete cistern, which feeds a small sink with handpump in the house. I heat water with wood. This last year I hauled drinking water in 2x 50 gallon plastic food grade drums, as well as in 2 liter soda bottles. I have an Amish built farm.

I'm restarting a hand dug/driven well project from 12 years ago. Even though the lake is right across the road, I don't want to be the lone Gazelle seeking water on the Serengeti if shit goes south. Where I'm drilling there are known huge boulders & plenty of ledge rock. Mostly clay & small rocks so far, in the 5 1/2 - 6" hole. Down to 8 foot now & it looks like a 4" casing will not be needed for awhile. Lake level when low is 46' below drilling location and closest horizontal lake water is 75+/- yds, so finding sand/gravel 4-5' below low lake level would be nice. Pump will be a DTH 12V d/c I can run from panels if need be, as well as a drop pipe & foot valve for the high pressure hand pump. Will have the water tested and have a good stock of black Berkeys if need be. Back up to simple filtering is plenty of sand & white tee shirts if it has to come to that.
