Agree with this 100% </div></div>
You would have to have a very limited definition of 'worse off' for this to be true.
If you haven't made your own life better in regards to salary, savings etc over the last 10 - 15 - 20 years then it's your own fault or you've been really unlucky.
Many people just want more than they actually need and so make themselves miserable. My wife doesn't have to work, she does because she wants to. We don't live beyond our means, we save a LOT, and when we go on holiday or such we are able to have fun because we're not watching the pennies because we don't have to.
Too many people aren't able to adapt to changes and so moan about 'oh how bad things are'. Get over it. My industry evaporated almost overnight and I got caught with debts and bills I had no idea how to pay. Nearly lost my home and everything in it. But within 18months of re-training myself, taking charge and learning to live like a hermit while doing it I was back on my feet, self-employed and earning twice what I was before.
Then there's medical science, health advances and what not. Seriously, unless you're a shepherd or in some industry that's in massive decline, I don't see where the logic is for this.
