I was over visiting my dad at the gun club and a guy had on a pair of shooting glasses. He said that I should try them out and all I can say is they were impressive. They were made by Pilla and they set pretty much on you nose and went high enough that you won't look over the top when shooting. They are expensive but I think I will end up with a pair of them.

I have been looking at these as well. Damn expensive since I need correction and wear progressives. I am going to a new eye doctor in mid June that specializes in fitting shooters. You bring your rifle to his office. Another member here told me about him.
He knows about these glasses as well. I have a feeling that this will be an expensive month

I remember reading about you getting ready to go to the doctor. I would like your feedback if you get these, I'm going to take my rifle over and try them again. The desert tech gives me problems with wearing eye protection so if they work I will end up with a pair.
I am really looking forward to the appointment. I basically refuse to buy any more shooting glasses without trying them on first. Every pair I have purchased has a problem behind the scope. They are not properly shaped.
This doctor told me he could show me some options that would work well and this was one of them. Their headquarters are not far from his practice. I am not necessarily looking to spend this much but if that is what it takes, so be it.
LOL...I have tried a bunch of brands and sold them all on eBay as all had serious limitations. These may be expensive but being that I don't wear any glasses now, it would be worth it for safety reasons alone.
Pilla's are really popular in the sporting clay world. It was all Oakleys when I started but they kind of took their place. 3 or 4 years ago it seemed everybody suddenly started wearing Pilla's. I've tried on several pair and shot a few pairs (of clays) with them on. They are super clear and like you said they go up really high and really keep your entire FOV unobstructed and I can understand why they're popular. That being said, are they worth 2 to 4 times the price of Oakley's? Not in my opinion.
Couldn't agree more about value being personal. I do think they make a hell of a set of glasses. Just not for me.
I forgot to say in my first post; a lot of people I've met that shoot sporting clays with them also need correctional lenses and they said that through all the glasses they've tried, their Pilla's worked best (At correcting).
I believe that's true too because when my dad started needing glasses, he tried shooting with several different prescription glasses and several custom inserts for Oakleys, but nothing ever worked very well.

As long as you remember to add spin drift, you'll be fine....
I always thought it was ironic that lots of guys will drop $2000-3000 on optics for a rifle but won’t spend money for good eye protection. I’ve had guys tell me they don’t use eye pro because they paid big dollars for quality glass on their scope and don’t want to put low quality glasses behind it.
Been wearing Pillas since they were hi def specs, over a decade. They have had a big reputation in sporting clays for awhile. They are first rate, they claim it will take a point blank .22 strike. Expensive but worth it.
Started looking into these it’s almost overwhelming the amount of lenses. I know they give some direction as to selecting them based on light. Wondered if you could share which lenses you’ve used for rifle shooting?
I have what they are currently calling the Truck Kit set of lenses, 26ED, 44ED and 76HC. These give good color contrast without enhancing or neutralizing any specific colors. The two ED lenses are also on their recommended list for action shooting.
I was lucky in that I got to try pretty much any of their frames and lenses before buying. Big clay competitions usually have a Pilla dealer present with a booth.
