I will be ordering a Foundation Centurion stock, but I am not sure about ordering the "light" or the "standard" weight version.

The Foundation website is not really clear about the weight difference between the two.

The website is also not really clear regarding where the weight difference is: In the forend or in the butt? Or even throughout.

Anyone have information and/or suggestions on this?

Thanks

I believe the light is exactly 11 oz. lighter.

I'd go standard... well I did go standard on all of mine. I'm not running around in the field with these, so the extra weight helps reduce recoil. Even in these tiny 6 and 6.5 what evers :)

Thanks for the replies.

I actually just spoke to Foundation regarding the Cenurion -- The weight difference is 9 ounces.

All of the 9 ounces are removed from the Centurion's buttstock and cheek-piece. No weight is removed from the front/forend of the Centurion.

I will be going with the "standard" weight.

Excited about finally getting a Foundation stock.

I have had a genesis light and a revelation light and feel like they balance better than my brothers genesis standard. My revelation balances about 2” forward of the mag well with a 28” m24 barrel. It’s personal preference but I’d rather mine be light as I plan on swapping to a light carbon barrel for hunting

It's personal preference. If you like as much weight as possible go standard. I have both and prefer the light, has a better balance to me. I have a 20" fluted MTU with a TBAC Ultra 7. I'm thinking of sending my Centurion back to have them mill it out to the light version, if they will. Either way you can't go wrong with a Foundation.

Regardless of standard ot light you're goona love the stock. That old style look and feel. The benefit of the micarta (dense), no bedding required...

Here's one of mine...

Several models of our stocks come in ‘standard’ and ‘light’ configurations. Please note the difference in weight is more about affecting balance than it is about offering a light vs heavy option. When weight is take out of our stocks for the ‘light’ version it is taken out of the rear portion of the stock. Because of this a rule of thumb is a build with a heavy contour barrel will balance better with a standard weight stock while a light contour barrel will lend itself to better balance with the light version. Please give us a call to discuss your specific build if you would like recommendations.

FWIW, I've got multiple light centurions with MTU barrels between 25 and 28". For me, even with the light version, the balance is a little closer to the mag well than I like (meaning butt heavy). I've got a set of brass weights spread between the stocks (4 weights per stock, I believe) that help move the balance farther forward.

I had a standard centurion and I felt that with an MTU barrel the balance point was too far back for me for barricade shooting.
