Hello, I'm looking to order a few 100 rounds of this, but want to make sure that I'm going to get the FPS I need. Anyone have an avg fps for this round? I have a 20 inch VTR w/ 1:12 twist.

TIA

Ryan

I'll have to look it up on my other computer in the morning, but I'm sure I have some chrono numbers for FGMM 168 and 175 out of my 20" SPS-T.

But if I had to guess, I'm pretty sure it's in the 2550 range. What kind of FPS do you need? And for what? 2550 will get you to 1000 no problem.

That sounds about right, I was getting 2600 from a 26" remington varmint tube.

Midway has a review on hornadys superformance 178 BTHP, poster advised near 2700fps and tight groups from a 20" tactical FWIW

Just enough to get out to 1000. I've only been shooting 168g out of it so far. That's because I've only shot out to 640 yards. I'm looking at shooting in my first match at the end of may, and it's up to 1000 yards.

Chrono'ed some 2 weeks ago. Temp was approx 60 degrees F. 2588 FPS out of a savage 10PC with a 10 twist 20" barrel. Also chrono'ed a savage 110FP with a 24" barrel (95% sure also 10 twist). The 24" savage shot at 2599.

This assumes that you are talking about .308 ammo. I'm not certain that you specified this.

The RL-15 Powder did not show one bit of pressure issue at all. I was amazed at the numbers from a 20" barrel.

Re: FPS out of FGMM 175G SMKs 20 inch barrel.

I've done a lot of testing with FGMM 175g SMK out of my Rem 700 LTR (20" bbl, 1 in 12 twist). It's good stuff, definitely sub-MOA and works great out to 900-1000 yards.

As far as FPS, it seems to differ based on lot number. I had one lot which averaged 2550. But my other lots are in the 2575-2585 range. I use 2575 as input to my ballistics software and it works very well.

I get about 2560 with 175's out of my 1:12" twist SPS barrel in 20" length with 44 grains of RL15 which is within a few tenths of a grain of M118LR if I remember correctly.

i get 2550 with the 168's in my SPS-T but i didnt even waste my time chronoing the 175's... they had horrible accuracy in my rifle. hope you have better luck.

My POF 20" is running right at 2575 (2574 to be exact) with Federal 7.62x51 Gold Medal Match 175's. I bought 1,000 rounds of it
