We are please to announce a FREE tactical precision (sniper) match that will be held on a private ranch/ range on February 19th, 2011 in northwestern San Saba County, Texas. The match begins before 8:00 am Saturday. ARRIVE AT RANCH AT 7:00 AM. Round count is 150 precision, 75 pistol.

Please note schedule change, you need to arrive for the match at 7:00 AM, Saturday.

This match will be an individual match using precision rifle (non magnum) and pistol to engage steel and paper targets from 10 to 1000 yards.

This is the second match in what we hope to be a series of matches to promote and encourage tactical precision rifle matches. The match is for fun and learning, and newbies are welcome and encouraged to attend. If you have been wanting to try a tactical rifle match, here is an opportunity to try one for free!
Here's a link to our previous match, which was held at a different range....
http://www.snipershide.com/forum/ubbthre...538#Post1709538

The match is a one day match that will test your skill with long range shooting, wind reading, positional shooting, target recognition, moving targets, unknown distance targets, KYL's, cold bore, pistol shooting, and whatever other crazy things we can come up with.

Awards and prizes are graciously being donated by our sponsors(listed below) for the prize table.... however, it is our hope that this match will be run in an environment of having fun, learning, and sharing of advice and encouragement of other shooters.

Participants are welcome to come out Friday afternoon to practice or zero their rifles. Also, anyone that wants can stay and shoot steel on the 1000 yard range on Sunday for practice. Saturday night after the match anyone who wants can stick around for socializing and cold ones (BYOB).

There is a small bunk house (cabin) at the ranch but space is limited, there are also several motels in the town of San Saba, TX that would be convenient to the ranch. Sorry, cabin is now full.

Please send me a PM if you would like to attend including:

Address
Phone #
Email
Caliber shooting
....don't just post "sounds good" or "I'm in if I can get off work" and think you are on the list!:)

Re: FREE Mesquite Creek Rifle Match, Texas 02-19-

Jason,
I really hate that you can't make this one. Heck, you're the defending champ!
We'll make sure you can make Rob's match in a couple of months!
Good luck in Phoenix.

Re: FREE Mesquite Creek Rifle Match, Texas 02-19-11

Damn it. My wife informed me that we are to be in Dallas for my brother in law's 40th that weekend. I can't catch a break.

Re: FREE Mesquite Creek Rifle Match, Texas 02-19-11

Guys, you wouldn't believe how the sponsors are stepping up for this match. So please, even if you can't make it, let these guys know they are appreciated. At this rate every competitor will get something nice to take home.

Chuck, thank you for supporting the match, so excited you are making the trip to come shoot with us.

Hey guys, Ross Precision Gunworks has donated a suppressor and more for the prize table!

Re: FREE Mesquite Creek Rifle Match, Texas 02-19-11

I have been BLOWN AWAY by the generosity of the match sponsors.

Please look at the sponsors list.... those companies care about this shooting community.

Thank you again so much for sending us the Falcon Scope and gift certificates for our prize table!

Re: FREE Mesquite Creek Rifle Match, Texas 02-19-11

Just was notified that the wife and I are in the match. Sgt Ross was telling us about it and sounds like it will be a great time. It will be her first precision rifle match, but she has shot 3 gun and other competitions.

Thanks to all the vendors supporting the match. Your generosity for supporting our shooting sports earns you new customers. When we are looking for gear we always look to our sponsors first. Thanks again.

Re: FREE Mesquite Creek Rifle Match, Texas 02-19-11

Thanks to all those that have signed up for the match.
At this point the match is full.
We are going to get together and see if we can figure out a way to add a few more shooters and still be able to put on a fun and safe match.
If you would like to be on the alternate list if we decide to add more shooters, or if someone who's already signed up notifies me that they can't make the match, then please send me a PM.
Thanks!

Thanks for the question.

No restrictions.
Just know how to safely use it and have a holster to secure and move with your pistol on you during stages.

All that.

I'd know how to use your mil-dot reticle and the math involved to determine range on ukd's.
I would shoot a lot of 100 yard dot drills. Speed, strong side, support side, repeatability, etc.
I would know what my dope was supposed to be from 10 yards out to 1000 yards in varying wind conditions.
I would get a saw horse, barrel or something similar and practice shooting off of it.

But, the best advice I can give you is...
Know your equipment, make sure it functions properly everytime, and practice moving and shooting with your gear.
Practice calming yourself for the instant you break the trigger and following through on every shot, that always seems to be my problem.:)

Any night or low light shooting? Dying to have a reason for my new NV toys. By the way I will be bringing a full gamet of night vision set up's for demo.

Sorry Chuck, no low light stage at this match,
Since this is just a one day match, we plan on finishing up before or at dark on Saturday so those who aren't sticking around can try to make it home at a reasonable hour.

I'm sure those who stick around Saturday night for socializing would love to give the NV a try. We could sure shoot some steel at night for fun, I'd love to see that through the night vision.

Too bad you told me the place is not overrun with feral hogs... but I'll still bring my NV and thermal in case I stay around for the night's activities; can your range accommodate a belt-fed with tracers?
