Re: Fresh off the boat.......

I actually dove in after one of the accurate spinning set-ups. All this with some major shark activity behind the boat and two sharks that we never stopped. Not the wisest decision but I wasn't about to let it be a $3000 weekend. I did loose my Coastas in the process.

That one chunk of bait weighed 8 lbs. We had a good sized shark on that was eaten by something huge. It felt like a HUGE Jewfish but we'll never know because he took what he wanted and left.

I had a really big Jewfish come all the way up to within 10 ft of the boat and ate a huge snapper I had while we were night fishing. I saw him come up in the LED lights under the boat. The boil that came to the surface was bigger than me.

Re: Fresh off the boat.......

Haven't been offshore in a while but seeing your pics makes me wish the flats boats didn't need a few hundred put back into them just to get right again. Have two Rangers in the garage that need some love, really wanting to get the Banshee going, haven't fished saltwater for two years. Bummed about it too.

Nice pics man, where'd you go out of?

Re: Fresh off the boat.......

sounds fun. dont be affriad of the sharks.. do some spearfishing and youll get use to them hanging out waiting for you to catch dinner for them. or some times they end up dinner. (not me in photo)

lol when your spearfishing the boats just the transportation. that guy there was spearing tuna (hes a world class tuna spear fisherman) and hes use to seeing these large sharks hanging out while he dives. but he had gotten into the boat already and his buddy was still in the water and he saw that this particular shark was acting different. he took it in defense of his buddy. it took a couple hours to bring it in. its a 12ft i think. it cracks me up when guys talk about how hardcore it is to bring in these size sharks on rod and reel. try being in the water with it and going along for the ride. oh.... and you have to hold your breath.. lol

Re: Fresh off the boat.......

Yea, I saw the fat guy in the background.
Howd' you like to be just paddling around and see some guy pop up with that.
Spearfishing is probably the only fond memory I have of growing up in South Florida.

Friends an myself would skip school and get some beer and head down to the beach, Those were the days.

yeah i was being sarcastic because you said its only a 5 yr old shark like that some how makes it no big deal to bring in. 5 yr old or 100yr old a 12ft tiger sharks a 12ft tiger shark. it eats anything and its powerful as hell.

Re: Fresh off the boat.......

Man that is a crazy photo. I have swam with some things I shouldn't have but that is one fish I do not want to be in the water with.

We were hoping to see a big hammer at the bridge but no such luck. We had big red there just in case though. I'd rather get hooked up with the hammerhead than the tarpon. We had a tarpon tag and considered using one for bait but there wasn't enough activity and it generally tends to piss people off.

Re: Fresh off the boat.......

What was lost to amount to 2000 dollars in lost tackle? I've never even considered how much some of the material and equipment costs to get such big fish in to a boat.

Re: Fresh off the boat.......

I'll take a charging grizzly anyday!!! you can keep the ocean! LOL I am going to have nightmares just thinking about that thing. Sharks are amazing creatures and I am a huge fan, but it's also why my little butt doesn't do salt water for swimming!
