Thread renamed from: I lost a friend, we lost a great lover of liberty.

I don't have much to say, however it seems therapeutic to share my pain after hearing that one of my closest friends took his own life this morning in Covington, LA. He was an outspoken conservative with a deep rooted love for this great free republic. I do not know if he left a note yet, however he was upset over a recently ended relationship.

If I may, I'd like to put a note in the cloud for him here.

I could write allot to say how sorry I am, and how much I pray for you and your family, but I would rather take this time to say thank you. Thank you for making me laugh until I cried, on too many occasions to count. Thank you for all the stimulating conversation regarding all things business and political. Thank you for the numerous gestures of sincerity and respect.

Thank you for listening when I could not make sense of what was happening at the time. Thank you for always ensuring that nobody went without, you are a generous caring soul. Thank you for foriving me for not being there for you this morning.

Hopefully the road ahead for me is long and adventurous, that being said I want you to know I will always remember the good times and cant wait utill our paths cross again.

Seems we've been losing good people of late here on the 'Hide, and it is troubling.

I didn't know him, but may he Rest In Peace, fellow good American citizen. Seems like quite a guy.

It helps to not think about it, just remember the good times.
he was a funny guy, some of the best parties I can remember. One of those guys where you laugh so hard you feel sick being around.

I'm going to miss him.

I'm sorry for your loss. I lost my friend Robert to cancer a year ago next week. It's hard to loose a friend. I'll send a prayer for you and his family.

I don't know you but am truly sorry for your loss. Man that's awful. I feel for you bro. Unfortunately I've been there and done that. The hard part is not being able to ask them why. At the same time it's hard to not be mad at them too.

I'm not trying to sound cold, but my Dad used to say, "...it's a permanent solution to a temporary problem." Being a HS principal he dealt with more than his fair share and he had a point.

Time might not heal but it does help the wound.

Chad, I didn't know him, and I don't know you, but I want to say that I am very sorry for your loss, and for his loss as well. He sounds, from what you said, like a really great guy, and losing such a man, not to mention one of us free Conservatives, is never easy.

Thanks, I just talked to some friends there at his families house tonight.. still not clear on the details but they are all just sickened with grief, and anger as said earlier.

Oh well, I love visiting Covington, but this will be the 1st time I wont enjoy it.

Don't try to hard to make sense of it. My close friend took her life in 2003 and I've found no answers and its been 7yrs. She was only 17, I had known her since she was 6. I wish you and his family the best, you all have my condolences. It never gets easier.

Chad, sorry for your loss. As a older gentleman told me when my father passed away(at the time I was 15)"remember the good times, and forget the bad." I'll keep the family and friends in my prayers tonight. Take care.

Sorry to hear about that Chad. My younger brother took his life just this past February and it has been very difficult for myself and our friends. We can do nothing more to help ourselves, and help the individual who took their life, than to continue to love them as much as we did before.

Yeah man, thanks. It came as a shock, because I never knew him to even have suicidal thoughts.

He started on a downward spiral in college with drugs and alcohol, but actually seemed BETTER in recent years, not worse.

This fast-ass nurse really did a number on him.

I'm trying to forgive her, but ultimately, it's not her fault, he could have locked her out and filed a restraining order if
needed.

The hardest thing for me, is that I cant stop imagining myself in his shoes, sitting there with a gun to my head... wondering what went through his mind when he pulled the trigger, was there an "uh-oh.. maybe this isn't a good idea?"

Was it just drunken rage?
Was it just to end the pain.. how bad must she have broken his heart?

It all was just a force multiplier, Obama, this woman, the economy, having to let employees go.
It 'literally' killed him, even though he took the last step.

I cant even concentrate on anything now.
This really sucks.

To make matters worse, my cousins wife killed herself last year in FRONT of him and my uncle!

Ive lost a few that way. Its really hard to think that they had to do it and well never know why. Ill i can say is hang in there keep your head up and move forward. Sorry for the lose. RIP

You never really know what kind of demons someone is carrying around in their heart or their head. I've lost three family members that way and two friends.
As has been said before, they chose a permanent solution to a temporary problem. Don't try to figure it out or rationalize it because you can't.
Don't mourn the death, celebrate the life.

There are many people out there that think that suicide is a "preventable act." They are as stupid as the day is long on the day that the sun shines in summer on the North Pole.
Unfortunatly, I have been around or have seen suicides on no less than 10 people. Most of them close to me and others that I had no clue that they would do that.
Our next door neighbor was an old WW1 vet and could not get the spark plugs into his car. He had removed them for about the 20th time to "clean" them and couldn't get them back in. 1971 Ford Maverick, in line 6. He was old as dirt and didn't have much to do so weekly he would clean his spark plugs. I didn't pay a lot of attention as to what he was doing as I had my own rats to kill. One day he couldn't get #6 back in[poor eyesight etc] so he went down in the basement and took his 03
service rifle that he was so proud of[Mod.1903] and stuck it under his chin and literally blew his head off.
There was a note for my Dad to come find him but my Dad wasn't around so my Mom found it. It fucked up her mind big time. It was a horrible mess. I guess he was done cleaning spark plugs and felt that he was worth nothing.
He was not worth nothing, he was worth a lot. I wanted to talk to him more about his time in France and how he was so juked up by mustard gas and chlorine. He was old and he hurt a lot and he felt his days were done, I just wish he had done it different. Regards FM

I am so sorry for your loss. I have been affected by the same thing on a couple of occasions by the deeds of very close friends. It is hard enough to find true friends in this world. Then to have their lives extinguished at their own hands makes it VERY difficult on those of us they leave behind. So many unanswered questions and a sense of unwarranted guilt, plague us, after they are gone. I will lift you up in prayer. May God Bless You.

Sorry to hear about your friend. He sounded like a great guy and a great American. I will pray for him and all of his family and friends. Keep in mind the strong parts of his character that you mentioned and let those qualities come out in your actions and words. Thoughts and prayers headed your way.

It was good to go into Covington to see all our friends from college, some even H.S., and celebrate his life.

I'm in the anger phase right now, but going to talk to someone to make sure I deal with it properly.

Such a waste, he had EVERYTHING, but battled depression and self medicated with drugs and alcohol.
