Took my uncle shooting a while back and got him on target at 700 yards with his early 80's 700 in 243. He was doing pretty good with his 9 power scope but was blown away when I popped my 6" hostage flapper a couple times and took out some milk jugs at the same distance. After that he felt the need to spend some money. First the barreled action took a trip to Black Ice Coatings to get rid of the factory bluing. Next was a new Vortex/ mount and Timney trigger. He was talking with Joel Russo about a laminate stock but decided on an A3 in black, white and grey.
We took it to the range last week for a function test and it shot under 1" with 3 types of factory ammo. We got a couple 3/4" groups with Remington Core-Lokt's. He then left for Alaska for a couple weeks and I bedded the stock and put it all back together. With some hand loads I think it will do pretty good. Looking forward to our next outing.
