I just picked up a Remington 700 action in 300 Win Mag with a Full Bull threaded 5/8-24 Barrel. Wanted to see what Muzzle break options are available for this diameter barrel.

Will Badger FTE look right?

OUCH!!! That has to be a fun rifle to lug around with that beast of a barrel on it!!

If your barrel is really 1.25" in diameter out at the muzzle, you are going to have a difficult time locating a factory production brake that comes close to that large a diameter. I tried to locate a factory option last year for a barrel with a muzzle OD of 0.925" and even that was a chore.

For the FTE, you are going to have to have your barrel turned down some at the muzzle in order to get it to fit properly...see here:

JP makes their recoil compensators and tactical comps in OD's up to 1.0", but that is still (as you know) 0.25" smaller in diameter than your muzzle which will leave a gap of at least 0.125" all around the brake where the brake meets the shoulder of your barrel.

The only factory production option I am aware of that gets closer are the Vais Muzzle Brakes. Ron offers his brakes in custom sizes/threads up to 1.5" in OD and he has regular, in-stock brakes 1" in OD readily available.

Other than those...somebody may have a better suggestion.

Oddly enough the work on this barreled action was done by RWS, why didn't I think of that first. Thanks!

There was no cutoff, I got the barreled action this way from the previous owner.

On large O.D.'s I have milled several right into the barrel and then use a reamer to back bore it. Looks great and will not come off.
