Maggie’s Funny & awesome pics, vids and memes thread (work safe, no nudity)

Just noticed that our little no-tits “shelter in place” Corner of the ‘Hide is just 3 pages away from being at 1000 pages.

Save some epic stuff for that day… it’s been 4 years in the making! And proves that funny stuff rocks!

Sirhr
Also proves folks with a somewhat “off” sense of humor and razor edged sarcasm can band together to enjoy humor… albeit sometimes sick humor. Regardless, a good group of folks found a place to visit often.

There is a similar fir tree in the Sierras and Cascades. I hated falling piss fir, you almost need to bathe in paint thinner afterwards. I can’t count the sets of Nomex Wildland gear we trashed because of the sap.
In Oregon pis fir is White Fir or Grand Fir. Abes Grandus. Tamarack is also called Western Larch. Larix occidntalis. It is a good timber log and is scaled and graded as Douglas fir. Pseudotsuga menziesi.

This place cooks their steaks on tamarack fires…..

Little known fact (Unless you are an east sider living in the Ochocos or Malheur), Tamarack needles turn yellow and drop in the fall. My Favorite firewood on the eastside.
Must be s northern Sub species. I haven’t seen that happen down here. Some people sell them as Christmas trees to the flatlanders.

In Virginia I cut some huge Red and White Oaks but never one on fire, LOL We did deal with huge rattlers, cotton mouths and copperheads. Sometimes I feel bad about cutting them, some were very rare virgin wood that will never be seen again,. Huge hickory trees that would make a million Louisville Sluggers.

I'm guessing you were firefighter? Smoke jumper? I visited the smokejumper school in Montana. Interesting folks.
6 years with the USFS in Timber and Fire, and 4 years with CDF (now CalFire) most of it with a saw in my hands. Saw some really cool country and met some great people. But I have no want to hike the Pacific Crest Trail after working on it in multiple locations and states.

Funny that I medicalEd out of the Army, but the USFS kept me employed through college.🤷🏼
