Red sea is narrow you cant be 100miles off shore
Drones can quickly and at low cost deplete the SAM arsenal of a carrier group , and modern ships do not have cheap ways (guns) of dealing with kamikaze drones.

Euro navies came in were measured by the Houthis and found wanting, cut tail and run after runing out of missiles bunch of which did not even work , they were down to guns and even those could barely cope runing 40y old shells.

Guns needed

i read a comment in the latest "impimus" that in Ukraine "shotgun technology" is shown to be the best drone defense. makes sense.

Angie’s dog Hershey woke us up about 10:30 tonight and when I realized something was wrong and turned on the lamp I was shocked. He is a beagle mix, not a big dog and doesn’t roam. Something had torn him up really bad. We are in the sticks with a few other farms on this side of the mountain. Not sure who the perp could be.

He was bloody. Skin missing in places and deep punctures. He wouldn’t let me pick him up but I coaxed him into the kitchen to see how bad it was.

It was bad.

Belle the chihuahua had a wound on her back but it wasn’t too bad. Hershey was by now struggling to breathe. He rolled over and I saw that the deep wound on his chest was blowing air when he tried to take a breath. He was obviously in a lot of pain.

I looked up at Angie. She already knew.

It is never easy. It is a kindness.

You were a GOOD DOG Hershey.

Sorry for your loss, brother. It's never easy.

Ruger Wrangler would go great with that rifle……

Then a Henry lever .22 as he gets a little bigger.
(Or a Marlin 39 trapper model)

AMHIK 😉

No sense waiting to get him his first Barrett... Becasuse he will be old enough to handle it before you know it!

USSOC is, right now, relying heavily on folks who were in SF in the 1970's and 1980's to 're-teach' skiills that were lost while SF was used as Hyper-infantry and door kickers in the GWOT. An entire generation has somewhat... lost... the skils for force multiplication, working with indigenous personnel, working covertly and silently... and other skills.

Not a 'slight' against the community. As some of the traditional skills were not needed during Afghan/Iraq. But there are lot of folks in their '60's and even '70's being called back in an instructor role to help folks re-learn core skills.

Hey, gotta do what you gotta do. And the requirement in the 2000's was to be hyper infantry and door-kickers. Not a slight. It's a compliment to the community that they can adapt on short notice. But now, the requirement is to go bacl to roots. And betting that the folks who are worthy will adapt real fast. The ability to be an 'expert at becoming an expert' remains a number one critera for being... part of the tribe.
