I'm a little ashamed to say that I've done this exact same thing with my forklift and Genie GS-1930 to get onto the roof of my 28' steel building. Granted I only had to get the scissor lift base up about 8' or so. The hard part is keeping the base level enough, especially outdoors, to keep it from alarming.
They're more likely to steal sockets. Or lugnuts. Mine stole lugnuts as a puppy. Last dog my parents had did the same when she was young.
