I had this happen - at least, similar. My first vehicle in the USA was an AWD sports car, I was not equipped to do my own maintenance so I trusted a local place, had it serviced regularly. Turns out they never touched the transfer case. Headed home from SC with my visiting sister at about 90mph, all four wheels locked up, broke free a couple of seconds later. Sounded like a bucket of bolts. Dealer opened it up and showed me, dry as a bone and all blued from the heat. Was going to cost thousands but somehow the dealer took pity and managed to get it covered under warranty for me. Traded it on the new model a short time later, so win-win.
She was fast, but she was touchy. Had to be good, or you would be dead. Jimmy Dolittle flew her well
Not for sale. I am going to fix it up
