Love the early Falcons, and someday I want one. Won't have that engine though, because then I'd be just copying my dad. Not quite as clean and it's a 67, but same idea. He said he paid $2500 for the engine about 1975.

From my ride this morning. Picture taken from what we call this Grumpy Man Bridge. (At Caney Creek Lake, Jackson Parish).
Met a fellow there not long ago, who defined grumpy and hard to get along with, Hence, Grumpy Man Bridge. Nice weather and beautiful morning, but 101 F this afternoon. Gonna be working in the shop under the fan.

No one ever fishes this little cove. Seems the best bass on Caney are in the deer water. We have had two major Professional tournaments on this lake (MLF) and none of the pros even came near it. Locals disdain it. The bass seem to congregate in the deeper water, long points and off the less developed hydrilla beds.
Sadly when the hydrilla really takes over, the bass go away and don’t return. Last summer, boats could not fish the deep coves, it was a solid mass of hydrilla, only thing that could navigate it was an airboat. Pointless anyway because the fish moved off as well.
Funny place. The lake was created as a multi-use lake. They introduced threadfin shad and the Florida Bass took off. Set a bunch of records. But some rather nefarious soul (we old timers all know who it was, but that family has long since passed, no point dragging the dead through the mud). Introduced hydrilla. next the lake was literally fished out. Getting a parking place at the boat ramps that was closer than a quarter to half mile was a GODsend. Then the grass carp were introduced and they cleaned it up better than a swimming pool. Then they died off and the hydrilla came back. Problem was it came back way to well. A solid mat. This year its better. But trying to come back.
I don’t fish seriously. Catch a few bream with an ultra light and beetle spin, every now and then a bass. Freezer stays full of fish and venison anyway. Shooting, cycling and sailing are what I like. Its a great multi use lake. Best sailing lake in North Louisiana (when the hydrilla does not totally foul the keel and rudder.
On a hot day you can't beat can't a refreshing Mayjito.
