That is a powerful argument.
One Union soldier died for every six slaves in the South. That's a hell of a butcher's bill. Today I see zero gratefulness for their sacrifice. Or for the decision to put the past behind us to move forward afterwards. Or a warning that we need to find a way out of our disagreements.
I have the books showing some of my ancestors owned a hundred slaves and a thousand acres of bottomland. I also have photos of my kids in front of historical markers where others won battles for the Union and built schools for freed slaves.

BTW, Vermonters died at the highest rate per capita of the Civil War. And the lefties up here are SCREAMING that we should be paying reparations. That's what Progressives are about. It's all about redistribution. Using whatever means necessary. Starting with disarmament and propaganda.

Reminds me of my time at auto vo-tech after high school. In electrical class we had a unit to test the condensors, which consisted of charging them up and checking leakage. Everyone quickly found out the fun of tossing a charged one at someone, or some other mischief LOL
