How I used to tell my boy he was overdrawn

Here's the scenario:

You are the best sniper in the Division. You are assigned a high priority target. He's a really nasty Cartel leader that's wanted dead or alive; preferably dead.

G2 tells you the time and location of his meeting with the top leaders of his organization. An air strike with a drone is out of the question because the WH wants a positive ID on the target. He's also been known to have hostages with him at all times.

That discourages the air strikes as he knows the good guys won't want to get blamed for collateral casualties.

You are free to choose any method and equipment to take out the target. So you elect to go solo. The security patrol drops you off 3KM from your FP at night.

Because he's a high value target he's also got thermal equipped drones looking for snipers that want to perforate him. So you choose the most up-to-date multispectral camouflage. You've done your research on this cutting edge camo starting with this thread!

The infiltration to the FP will be slow, taking about 72 hours. You're planning on a total of 12 hours to sleep during your stalk. That means an average speed of 50 meters per hour for 60 hours of movement. You want to take your time to avoid detection.

You have finally made it and are about 30 meters from an excellent FP that provides cover and concealment. You are on schedule but can't waste anymore time as fatigue is setting in. You have just enough water left for your exfiltration and you won't be taking much time to rest as the target's goons will be looking for you after the shot.

You've been on tough missions before but this one is important. You have to make it to that last 30 meters because you won't be able to see the target from your current position due to the slight rising terrain in front of you.

You are about to crawl though the ditch in front of you when you hear and see this about a foot from your face. What do you do? There are no right or wrong answers but be prepared to justify your response.

Should you be captured the agency will disavow any knowledge of your existence. This post will self-destruct in five seconds. Good luck Jim.

The answer is to just slither on by.
You identify as a rattle snake, so, you're just one of the boys.

After the shot, you crawl into the den with them for concealment and cover. You drink your own piss for hydration for the next 48 hours until the coast is clear.
You exfil

I like to tell the story about my cat, baby kitty who is now 12 years old. She has always been a stone cold killer and once when I was out of town, my wife called me all upset and said she had brought a full grown squirrel into the house. The squirrel was very much alive. I heard some screaming and hollerin’ and the phone dropped …. then my wife came back on the line and said oh my God she ran in the bathroom …. I said well shut the door.

She left her in the bathroom for about an hour until all the noise has stopped. When she opened the door and looked in there, there was nothing left of the squirrel except something that look like a kidney and the bushy tail. Baby kitty had eaten all the rest, and looked as fat as a tick. Head, feet….everything.

Don’t let this sweet face fool you.

I had one of these in P51 form. Got it when I was about 8 or 9 for Christmas. You had to bump start the things, then get your finger out of the way because they ran WFO all the time. One day the wind caught it, the line went slack, and it went up then dove straight for me. I threw the line and ran and it smashed into the driveway. Fun times, lucky I still have all my fingers from starting that thing.

Oh for the days of yesteryear when I could wire up an engine in < 30 minutes. Here’s what mine looked like a few weeks ago when I got the cab off:

Two air and water-cooled turbos, plus all the associated intercooler/intake plumbing and engine management bullshit makes for a lot of peripherals to go through before pulling the motor!

Engine block itself is only like 18”x18”x24” … a lot of crap around it really fills up the engine bay though, LoL.

From the looks of that bearing you posted something must’ve got into it

Yep… no idea what or when, but it’s getting built up nicely. From the builder:

700Hp Rated Shortblock
-Incoming inspection (visual inspection, check mainline, check cylinders, check threads)
-Diamond Hone w/Plateau finish
-Deck (PCD)
-Jetwash
-Set ring gap
-Set bearing clearance
-Check crank straightness
-Crank micropolish
-Full set of bearings
-Balancing Crank, Rods, Pistons (adding weight is additional if needed)
-Traum Forged 10:1cr Pistons
-Eagle Forged Hbeam Rods w/ARP2000 bolts
-Assemble crank, rods, pistons into block

Plus any required machine work to correct issues of course. I’m also having a brand new Gen3 crank shipped direct to him…mine looks fine but the metallurgy and heat treat/finish machining are supposedly better in the Gen3 vs. the one that came in my Gen2 motor.

Shipping him my billet flexplate too, so he can balance the entire rotating assembly before building up the short block.

Some old dude a long time ago told me the best thing to clean cylinder bores, gun bore cleaner like 99 bench rest or such.
