There is a Marbles Museum in Escanaba at the Upper Peninsula state fair grounds. I don't know if you could get ahold of anyone there until our POS tyrannical governor backs off on her shutdown crap or is over ruled.
That makes sense since the ends of that reversible block have different anglea on it.

I have a friend who is a serious Marbles collector. They made all kinds of hunting and firearms accessories. Sights, cleaning rods, knives... you name it. They were "The" company in the '30s through the '60's when cheaper stuff put them out of business. Their stuff is beautiful and made amazingly well. It was a rite of passage here in the Northeast to inherit a Marbles knife or get your first one as a kid. Everyone in our deer camp had them.
I agree that it may be some kid of rivet set. But may also be something for sharpening? The Saw Set idea is a very good one. Looks like it mounted on a wall.
I'll ask my buddy who collects this stuff. BTW, rare marbles pieces can fetch huge money. And that looks rare!

One morning I was driving to Reston, VA... or I should state that the car was driving itself at 70 miles an hour on 267.
(I bought a Tesla in August of last year because it would actually save me a lot of money in overall fuel costs, and you’ll get an HOV sticker. Funny how all that doesn’t matter now in the world of Covid... I should’ve freaking bought a loaded F150 and been done with it)
It’s 4:30 in the morning and all of a sudden, out of nowhere, I get cut off by this car that cut across three lanes of traffic without blinkers!
The Tesla immediately starts making all sorts of noise and stuff, and slams on the breaks. I, of course, mutter something about the other guy being an asshole...
“Well, screw it, I’m getting off at the next exit anyway.” ...and I put my blinker and get over to leave the higway.
The car immediately pulls behind me and the lights turn on… It’s an unmarked cop car.
The officer comes to my window and the first thing he says to me “ You came up on me really fast!”
“Oh, you mean the fact that you cut across three lanes of traffic without a blinker and cut my ass off had nothing to do with that?”
Bahahahahaha. The officer just pauses, looked at me for a second like he was trying to decide weather I was just being an asshole, and then basically says “Huh. yeah... whoops”
“ I tell him the truth, that I’m on my way to work because I got called in for a serious emergency and that I’m working for the federal government; that I set the card what I consider to be a safe speed given that there’s nobody on the road, and headed in with all haste.”
He flat out tells me that they are under strict instructions to never give anyone a break. “ Besides, you’re from Maryland, so you won’t get any points anyway. It’s only a $90 ticket.”
literally the only thing he appeared to care about was whether or not he was going to be able to write that ticket and get the money.
Once I pointed out that he almost slammed into me, he was kind of human at that point. But it was surreal....
Haha. I see the cops in NOVA haven’t changed a bit since l left the area 15 years ago. Back in the 1980’s and 90’s the Herndon police and Fairfax Co. PD were notorious for their draconian traffic enforcement. Speed traps on every corner, cops jumping into the middle of the road to stop people, etc. In high school I had friends that were ticketed by the Herndon PD for 1 mph over the speed limit. Seriously, 1 MPH over! I learned from 16 years old what bullshit traffic enforcement is in this country. It’s all about revenue, period.
Back in my youth, just after I got out of the USAF, I was poor... so I got tis 1980 Caddilac that was just in crappy shape.
The town that I grew up in has houses that range all the way up to $50 million. So the police have a tendency to be on the lookout for anybody that does not fit... and my faded red 1980 Cadillac didn’t fit...
I got pulled over one time doing 3 miles an hour over the speed limit. Knowing what I know today I would’ve certainly going to court. Unfortunately back then there is no way I could afford to do it

I'm late to the party again. Worked at the farm all day yesterday and missed when this got posted. That is a very nice old Marble's saw setting tool, possibly for a crosscut saw.
That feeling of wanting to shake someones hand and buy them a drink... that's what I have after listening to this.
Have a couple in my shop as well as some very old cast iron saw vises. Takes a little practice to properly sharpen a hand saw just as with plane blades and chisels. The late Tom Law was master sharpener and restorer of hand saws and had quite a collection and put together a few videos. A quality handsaw that is properly sharpened is a pleasure to use.
I recall reading or hearing if a saw is properly sharpened/set a needle should ride the teeth like a slide.
