A friend bought a Mr. Cool unit for a small rental. The indoor unit gave him some problems a year and a half later. He called them and they sent him an entire new system. The old circuit board was obsolete. Pretty impressed.About a week ago, I installed a Senville mini-split (from Amazon) in our house here in the hills. This is a small house, under 700 feet, and isn’t particularly well insulated. It is temporary until we build our retirement home. We just sold/closed our old house.
The unit is highly rated on Amazon and it is very user install friendly. It is 19 seer and the energy sticker shows it to be very energy efficient. Supposed to heat down to 5* and it has been in the 20s several nights since. Zero issues, just works.
I am completely blown away! It is almost silent yet heats and cools amazingly well. What is this wizardry!
It has a remote and a few different modes but I simply set it on auto and to the temp I want and let it switch from heat to cool as it needs to during 24 hrs.
All I needed was a vacuum pump and a set of gauges, it comes pre-charged with refrigerant. I did it in about 4 hours but now that I have done one I could do it much faster.
I bought the line cover kit for outside and I mounted the compressor on a hanging bracket I built under my porch.
All for about the price of a nice window unit
Mini-splits are the future, I plan to put them in our new house.

Local woman Andrea Merz got on Facebook Live after ordering at the restaurant, where she claimed that the employee who took her order “just assumed” she would want “mild hot sauce” because she was a “white girl.”
“OMG. I just experienced some straight-up racism you guys. This is not OK. I just ordered a bean burrito at Del Pollo Gordo and the guy at the counter goes, ‘Hot sauce? Let me guess: mild?’ Are you kidding me right now? What year is this, man? Are we still talking to people like this? Mild hot sauce just because I’m a white girl?!” Merz shouted into her camera while sitting in her parked Volvo.
“What else would you assume about me? I listen to Taylor Swift? Do I shop at Trader Joe’s and Bed, Bath, and Beyond? Do I own a yoga mat? You think I’m into essential oils and watch the Property Brothers every night? Even if most of that is true, it doesn’t make this OK.” Merz went on to talk about how she just needed to take some deep breaths so she didn’t jump up across the counter and “give somebody an old-school beat down.”
That afternoon, protesters arrived in the restaurant parking lot in droves carrying picket signs and chanting things like “We like hot sauce too,” “You don’t own jalapeños,” and, “Taste is not a skin condition!” Merz called for a boycott of the establishment until the management made a public apology.
A spokesperson from Del Pollo Gordo said the company did not intend to hurt the woman’s feelings and would happily offer her a free burrito for her trouble. Merz accepted the offer. When asked what kind of hot sauce Merz would be ordering with the free burrito, she answered “mild.”

When we bought our first Standard Dachshund I remember reading in one book that a 30lb Std Dachshund had the jaw strength of a 100lb German Shepard. Long story short, our male went through two Orvis tough chew dog beds in such short time that Orvis told us to quit calling they wouldn't replace the lifetime warranty dog bed - haha. He's an old man now, he'll be 15 this fall.

For several decades, I've heard the BS that women can do anything a man can do. I've heard all the BS about giving women the "right" to serve in combat but have never seen any of the politicians raise a finger to make them register for the selective service.
Except for Demi Moore in "GI Jane" I've never seen any split-trail soldier stand in line to get their head shaved. I've never seen them have to comply with the male PT standards.
For decades, I've seen the affirmative action BS play out in the military with the message that "white males have to go to the end of the line."
I don't know the full story on this incident but I'm guessing that the excuse of "my turret was stuck" will be good enough and they get promoted.

I'm 69 now and got the same news 5 years ago. Since I was 40 I have had my PSA checked yearly and it was always about a 2, then it jumped to a 12. Went through the biopsy, surgery, and radiation which I admit is not a fun time. Now the PSA is 0 with no signs of cancer. Prostate glands were a great thing when you're young but as you get older they are a pain in the ass. 10 years ago the outcome probably wouldn't have been good but now it's not a death sentence. Daughter was telling me that her teacher was telling class 50% of people in Congress should be women because......"fair".
Nothing about desire, earning the spot or ability just set aside quotas because......"fair".
My daughter knows better but many more dont.
If things were really “fair” a lot of women would cry “uncle” really fast. Then they’d be begging to get back in the kitchen and iron our shirts.

hahaha....I wanted a bird dog, but we lived in town at the time and the neighbors had a standard dachshund that we befriended. Turns out they were really good hunters (they were originally bred to go into badger holes and kill the badger). Our garden was safe from all manner of pests and they killed more rabbits and groundhogs than I did for many years...hahaha. They were smart enough to know they couldn't run the rabbits down, so they learned to circle around and get between the rabbits and the heavy brush....rabbits couldn't get away.
Years ago we owned (or he owned us) a mini dachshund. We would go out in the back yard during the summer and find countless bird dead on the ground. We thought they had died in the trees and just fell to the ground until we realized many of the birds weren't under the trees. My daughter was out in the yard and watched Toby jump from cover and chomp down on these birds. Seems his favorite spot was to hide next to the shed and then attack from that position. He was very good at doing this.
