Was wondering if I could get anyones experience with GAP-10 [.308W] rifle, and some information on their purchase; Ordered one back in late march, and was hoping to have it by now, but it seems that it is behind schedule, or just taking its time in transit.

Since I don't have mine, was wondering if someone else could tell me how their's has shot, maybe with a comparison to another rifle.

Also any feedback on wether or not anyone has noticed any recent delays in production.

Lastly, want to clarify that I'm not whining about the service GA Precision has given me, I just can't wait till mine arrives. I've been more than a pain in the ass to deal with, I'm sure.

GA Precision, from what I have heard and seen online and from what a friend told me, kicks ass.

Thanks for any feedback.

Re: GA Precision GAP-10

Two to four months as well, but the gentleman I talked to said it would probably be done around the third month.

The end of the expected production time frame would have been late July.

Re: GA Precision GAP-10

FWIW, I waited almost 10 years for my first GAP, and it was still well worth the wait.

And yes, the delay was due to shit/crap/corruption on MY end, not theirs. Point that I'm making though, is it was still worth the wait. You're only talking months, and less than 6 months, at that.

Relax, and enjoy.

Re: GA Precision GAP-10

I know, I'm just pumped to get it. If they'd have told me it would have been a couple years to manufacture it, I still would have placed the order. Don't mind my jackassity.

What rifle did you get, and how has it handled, if you don't mind my asking?

Re: GA Precision GAP-10

For me, it is a Crusader. How has it handled? Darn-near flawlessly. The precision is paramount, and the reliability is even better.

No, I'm not getting paid anything for this endorsement or anything. Just stating facts. And as always, credit where credit is due.

You won't go wrong with the service, either. If you ever need it, that is.

Re: GA Precision GAP-10

Here's my 308 GAP-10, an yes it performs better than me. You won't be disappointed...

Re: GA Precision GAP-10

Just be patient. It will be worth every minute you have waited after you get. There will be a problem though one GAP will not be enough. Btw mine performs as I expected and as they said it will.

Re: GA Precision GAP-10

I've made the Gap trip a few times. The crew that George has put together are some great people. One thing I like is no matter how busy they get, they will NOT put out a substandard rifle.

The Gap10 is my favorite gasser. I have owned and still own a few others but they don't get much use. I own one in 308, 6.5cm, and 6cm. They all run great and if you understand how to handle a gasser, it'll do what you want it to do.

I do get paid in love shown from Suppa Kenny!

Crap - I'll reset my expectations to September/October. This is as bad as waiting for a can.

I ordered a can from M3 back in the beginning of February. I'm still waiting for it to make it to my dealer to do my form 4 and wait another 6 months... It's nothing like a can, lol...

Re: GA Precision GAP-10

Of all the AR platform .308's I've seen...the GAP-10 is the one I want. I've been putting off ordering one, but my 'want' index has finally exceeded my 'wait' index.

I have a Crusader so I'm familiar with George's products. They don't come much finer.

Re: GA Precision GAP-10

This is great information! Thank you, I am about to put in an order for a .308 GAP-10, I know it might take a while but glad to hear that quality is never sacrificed.

Brian,
How are you liking the 6.5 so far and have you found that quality factory ammo is readily available at a decent price?

The 120's shoot great from the 6.5cm Gap10 and they seem to be easier to find and cheaper than the 140's.

Re: GA Precision GAP-10

I have a 20 inch lwrc REPR. Anyone had one of those and converted to GAP 10? I've been looking for one in the FS section to possibly trade for. Piston is nice but, I've heard great things about the GAP 10.

It will be worth the wait and that is the no-shitter of the day. Tried some sub-sonics through it a couple of weeks ago and that bitch is quite as a mouse-fart. Only drawback is everybody at a range has to stop you to fondle it...not that I mind a quick fondle now and then

Re: GA Precision GAP-10

Bought the GAP-10 308 with a 20 inch tube with PRS and could not be happier. When I do my job it shoots 1/4 inch. I was early and the wait was 2 months. I had mine done in FDE and it is number 4. Awesome rifle! My problem is i just don't get to shoot it as much as I would like. Looking for a longer range locally to stretch it out a bit. Good luck with your decision!

Re: GA Precision GAP-10

Has anyone gotten the call recently on their GAP-10??...Just curious. Ordered mine March 26th, called August 1st and was told the GAP-10's are running a little behind but that they just received a shipment of bolt carriers and would be finishing up the March orders "soon". Again I'm not complaining and I know it will be worth the wait no matter how long just figured I'd post and see if anyone has heard anything.

Re: GA Precision GAP-10

I have had GAP build me 2 different big boy AR's, one in .308 and one in .260 Rem.

In my book, they are my go-to shop for these services. They pay attention to details you won't even know about, and they shoot extremely well. Both guns shoot .4-.6 MOA for 5-round groups. The .260 Rem is my most accurate rifle, and maintains that acuracy at distance out to 1000yds.

I was spoiled both times in that it wasn't Obamageddon, and I got them in weeks, not months. Those days are over, if you look at the insane levels of demand on:

* Barrel blanks (GAP usually has a healthy supply in-stock)
* Bolt carrier groups for the big AR's
* Small parts for big AR's, namely LPK's, ejection port doors, etc.

Every custom shop in the US is way back-ordered right now on quality products that they are renowned for, so it's hitting everyone in the industry.

What makes it especially difficult is that the AR market is one where retail customers can buy critical components for their own projects out from the manufacturing cycle, so that small AR shops have to compete with this extremely high-demand market for parts almost as if they were just a retail customer, because the Hungry Hippos are chomping faster than the marbles can hit the trough.

Re: GA Precision GAP-10

Man 2 months that's good!...think there was a guy in thIs thread that ordered in February and as of July hadn't received it yet. Hoping by September for mine, we'll see.
