Game Changer fill replacement.

Has anyone replaced the fill beads in the wax canvas game changer with sand?

If so does the sand leak out of the zipper?

Does make the bag more malleable?

Any disadvantages?

I have met a few people that have or currently run sand in a OG GC. The results I hear is that it is rock solid, but the bag will be somewhere around 15lbs.

Gets even heavier. The pint sized heavy fill is just sand, so it is no different with the OG sized.

gotcha. i've never messed with the heavy pint size.

i couldn't imagine lugging around a 15lb GC lol

So I ended up going to the local craft store and bought a few 1lb bags of glass stones that were a tad smaller than the regular fill.

Dumped them in and it seemed to help make it a bit heavier and stable.

I went with Spex-Lite 4345 as a replacement in 2 bags. This is light, water proof, and conforms extremely well.

In a Phantom Precision Tactical Barricade Bag, I replaced the poly lite fill because it was too light and squishy. Handled like a big balloon. I filled to about 90% which gives me some squeezabiliy yet is firmer and stable. I use this as a rear bag having thrown out my other bag because the fill leaked and ruined the outside.

I also replaced the heavy sand in my F-class Edgewood rear bag. I packed the bag and ears pretty tight. The weight went from 15 pounds to about 5. When shooting, it is very stable yet I can still squeeze small adjustments. I cannot tell the difference between the heavy sand and the Spex-Lite.

Another plus is the customer service. Knowledgeable and will to walk you through the different types. Drawback is the amount you have to buy--A medium USPS box at about $45.00. I'd say enough to fill 4 medium bags.

You can always send it back to AG to get it filled with the same sand they use in the heavy Pint Size. I've gotten my pint sizes wet before, and they dry out pretty quickly without doing anything special to them.

I considered doing this, since the fill in the PS is bad ass... they warned me the full size GC would weigh about 18# with that fill! So... I skipped it... ha ha

Yep, a full size OG with sand is fucking heavy, but I know a couple people that have done it.

Just used Git-lite fill in my waxed canvas GC. Conforms around bars and barricades as well as with the original fill IMO.
Best part is you don't feel like your packing an anchor by the last stage.

I second the Git-lite fill. It's just as stable as the original fill in the waxed canvas GC, but now it only weighs 2lbs instead of 6lbs.

Running anything heavier in a standard OG size is a bit overkill considering most top shooters can stabilize down to virtually zero wobble on the current set up. I used carry a Pint sized heavy fill and OG GC with standard fill. I am glad I switched my OG to the Git-Lite which saved me about 2.5-3 lbs of weight. I can still maintain stability on sub moa targets positionally. Being able to carry a Git-Lite OG GC and Heavy fill pintsized GC has offered me flexibility to do everything I need to do while taking a few pounds off the pack.

The big benefit you feel from heavy fill isn't really from the extra weight. The extra stability comes from the fact that nothing is slipping around inside the bag. In the quest for "flowing" fill, the lost aspect was that flowing equals slippery. When you set your rifle down on a slippery filler there is always a little more room for it to slip around. That means your reticle will move with it. With a sand -type heavy filler, the weight of it and the tiny particle size doesn't leave room for any slippage because it's "preloaded"; all of the slippage has already happened when you set your rifle on it.

We went in the opposite direction of flowing fill. Our fill will move inside the bag but once it is pressured it locks together. It will give you the stability of heavy fill without the heavy. The weight is pretty much the same as a standard fill, maybe a few ounces heavier. But it is miles lighter than the heavy fill and just as stable.

I'm running this fill. i prefer it over the git-lite. while the weight drop was super impressive, i felt slightly less stable. it didn't give me the warm and fuzzies.

i prefer the heavier/solid locking bag.

also - my rifle wouldn't balance using a bag with the git-lite fill. there wasn't enough there for the bag to hang onto the barricade, so i felt like i was fighting the rifle.

haha. no it's the precision underground rifle gear fill mentioned above. he hadn't released it yet so i didn't want to spill the beans publicly.

I ended up with the guy lite fill and once in a great while I see a bead or two slip out.

I've been thinking of trying some black diamond sandblasting grit on a whim. As big and sharp as the granules are, I would imagine they would lock together pretty well. Tractor supply carries it in a 50lb bag.

Just use the regular fill on the larger bag and get a pint sized heavy, best of both worlds
