Anyone been catching it? Three episodes in. It is about the only show on now that I can't wait for the next one to air. I really like it. Good character development, nice booby shots, with good sets and acting. It better start moving along a bit though. They have laid the groundwork for a pretty good story.

Re: Game of Thrones

I'm a big fan of the show myself. Between Game of Thrones and Boardwalk Empire, HBO is worth it. Violence? Check. Wenches? Check. So far, it's a great show. I'm still looking for the epic, Braveheart-esque battle scene. I hope it's in the pipeline.

Re: Game of Thrones

The guy playing the dwarf/midget (somebody please explain which is which) is on his way to an Emmy! Mark my words... this man doth win the first little person Emmy!

Re: Game of Thrones

I really like this show so far. I can't wait to watch it each week. I'd like to find some time to read the books. I may wait until the series is finished being written first, but it looks like there can be quite a bit of time between each book. I'm glad they picked it up for a second season/book.

I started reading the books a few months ago as the book store employee recommended them and said they were good enough for HBO to do a series based on them. They are very good. I don't get a lot of time to read and I am a little more than halfway through the third. I hope I stay ahead of the series.

I was under the impression that there are only four in the series. I think he has moved on to another storyline.

+1
The wife and I sometimes watch the same episode mid-week to break up the wait. Really addictive TV series.

Don't wait or you may never get to read them! Don't get me wrong Marin is an excellent author and I'm sure it isn't easy moving such a huge story along but the 4th book was released in 2005 and the fifth is only being released this year. The kicker is they are actually one book and supposedly the 5th was basically finished when the 4th came out! He took half the characters and put them in the 4th and half the characters in the 5th so both books take place over the same time period, we just had to wait 6 years to read about what the other half did during the 4th. I just hope he ends up finishing the series because it is easily the best series I've ever read.

As far as the HBO series it is even better than I thought it would be and after hearing HBO picked it up I had very high expectations. Deadwood used to be my favorite HBO series but I think Game of Thrones has already topped it.

Re: Game of Thrones

Well damn. I looked in the cover for the copyright date of book 4 and it was in 2005, thought for sure that was the end of it seeing that its 2011. Oh well, just another one to read. Good thing that I like reading. Only bad part is, that is one more book to read before I break the spine on Applied Ballistics that I bought through the group buy! Hopefully I get through that before the last Wheel of Time book releases this fall. Another great fantasy epic series.

You are correct. IMDB lists Fire and Blood as the last ep for season 1 on June 19th.

That guy is a very experienced actor. I am sure you will remember him from "Elf", where he was mistaken for...a Elf.

Re: Game of Thrones

I hope HBO doesn't do to this show what it did to "Deadwood". Just left us hanging after 3 seasons. And "Rome was supposed to be like 5 seasons, but they cut it short after what, two short seasons?
A TV season used to be like 26 weeks. Now you only get 8,9, or 10, especially with these Cable series.

Re: Game of Thrones

All hell must be going to break loose, they killed the King of the North.

The Starks will bring it to the South!

I can not believe they killed him!!!

I was in shock when they cut his head off

Sean Bean is awesome too... what a shame I really liked him.

Vengence must be swift.

I want to see Joffreys head on a pole!

Absolutely! He was great in Elf. I don't think I've ever seen a little person win an Emmy though. I'd like him to win one for this show, I think he's been great in Game too... the battle scene was awesome!

Ohhh I could play the spoiler here. I read the books, or at least am almost finished with the fourth. I knew Ned was going to lose his head. Boy, was my girlfriend pissed when I didn't warn her as we watched it.

BTW, Ned was not King of the north, he was the Warden of the north. Aegon Targeryon conquered the 7 Kings and unified Westeros generations past. Ned's forefathers were Kings of the north before they knelt to the Targeryons. But you would kneel to if the opposing army came with dragons.

I was kind of excited for Sean Bean. He usually played flayed secondary characters- the 'SAS' guy in Ronin and wasn't he Sean in 'Patriot Games'? Just when I thought he would get a great character and ride the story arc, he gets his head cut off my a swords arc.

Why do I think the little girl Aria is going to end up being the biggest badass in the family?

Re: Game of Thrones

Sean Bean just got cut in real life. He was out in a Bar in england with his Pornstar Girlfriend (yes she is, not just a French Playboy model), and some guy was busting her balls about her videos or magazine spreads. sean intervened, eventually, and the guy glassed him. but the wounds weren't too serious, Sean cleaned himself up with a bar First Aid kit (which in England with all the glassing must be pretty complete), and declined medical attention.
He is a pretty tough guy after all.

sean had his own series on BBC. "Sharpe's whatever". Went for years. He even had a young Elizebeth Hurley play a prostitute who screwed him in Spain.
Don't worry about Sean. he's done pretty good in the acting business. far better than most, that's for sure.

Re: Game of Thrones

sean bean did a movie recently called "black death," it was pretty neat. hes really good in the game of thrones though. he had a bar fight a few days ago and got stabbed, and pulled a ned stark and went back inside the bar and had another drink.

Re: Game of Thrones

Not really into classical music or violins, but this caught my eye, or ear I guess. Opening theme covered by a rather talented violinist with 13 tracks.
