Thanks to Jay at Sport Optics, I now have two new Schmidt and Benders to play with.
Now all I have to do is get my TBAC 338 suppressor and my build will be complete.

Finally getting around to posting some pics of my new GAP 338 Lapua. I just spent the last 2 weeks in Wyoming testing it out and doing some hunting with it. Needless to say, it is not fun to lug around the wilderness, but once in position, it can reach out a longggggg ways.
Here is one of my shooting spots. Drilled rocks all the way up to 1400 yards.

What excuse did you give to go to WY for 2 weeks? I may be in need of the same catalyst...

Nice rifle, looks like its all business. A 'sleeper' 338LM if you will.

Recoil is very manageable. I would say its on line with a 5 pound .308 with no brake.

Nice rifle and excellent shooting. Glad you were able to take a couple of weeks off. What's your secret. Thanks for sharing.

Not sto steal your thread. I have a similar set up. My recoil is similar to a 243 or a 6.8 SPC ar15. Hardly a kick. Makes me wish I had brakes on my 308 rifles. If you're ever in the Livermore area, shoot me a PM and I'll let you shoot my 338 so you can feel how well the FTE works on that caliber.

Each year when I re-negotiate my contract, I request my hunting trip dates off haha.

gun only weighs just under 13 lbs. So with scope and rings, my guess is right around 14.

Re: GAP Built: 338 Lapua Mag

SSSHHHWEEEEEEEET!!! I myself trying to decide between .338LM and .300WM.

.338 is a sure overkill for hunting but looks like there is still plenty of meat left :)

Nice Rig!

How does it look on paper? </div></div>

I tested it with retumbo up to 93 grains. Still no sticky bolt, but every 4 shot group was .5 MOA or less. I had to do quick load development for the trip, so I still plan to fine tune. I'm going to try out some 250 scenars with 4831SC next. Reports will follow once I get the time.

If you buy one, you will find open space haha

Re: GAP Built: 338 Lapua Mag

One day... That is a sexy rifle! The weight is alot less than I would have figured! WOW! I think I just found something else to add to my list of things I should buy in the next few years!LOL

Re: GAP Built: 338 Lapua Mag

Nice rifle! I am awaiting a TBAC 338P for my PGW Timberwolf right now. Should have it in a week or two. Have fun with it. Ill throw up some pics when I get it.
