If I remember correctly the gladius was the custom build they did for LL....which turned into one of their regular line up rifles for sale.

Re: GAP Gladius

They are awesome rifles. I have engaged steel out to 1000 yards. With successful hits and surprising accuracy. I wasnt sure how the rifle would perform but I am very happy with it. It seems to be my go to rifle for 308 when I need a light, handy bolt gun. I take it almost everywhere when I leave for a trip that will involve shooting/hunting.

Re: GAP Gladius

Such an awesome rifle. I already have my rifle worked on and also have plans for future builds. Would be a amazing build in 6.5x47L in my eyes.

As others have said it is a BAD little rifle!

What are your load preferences for pushing those 178s that fast? I was expecting 2700+ for my "24 at best for 175s, i was looking at loads on 6mmBR.com and saw the 175 SMKs ranging from 2400-2753fps.

Also it is a hot load- numerous reports of blown primers.

Oh... i must've missed that part haha, i saw 178gr, 2700+, and 18" barrel and freaked out. Thanks for the heads up.

Haven't fully finished my first rifle and i've already added this one on my list after a sentinel build. Of course this will reside over the next decade or so. Absolutely love the look of the gladius. I realize it's not about aesthetics but that is one beautiful rifle.

Re: GAP Gladius

using someone elses ammo (i think it was lapua brass, 45 grains of varget and a 175 smk), i made a third round hit on a 21" plate at 1500 yards with a 18.5" barrel rifle i put together. is an 18" barrel ideal for 1k+ yards? no. but then again, neither is a 308. can it get there? sure.

you need to decide what your intended purpose is for the rifle before you can decide if the gladius is the right tool for the job.

You can always change calibers too. 18" would be an ideal go to rifle to me. Getting rid of pest, in an occasional practical long range match it would be a joy to carry. With a suppressor the OAL much more favorable compared to say a 24" or bigger.

Re: GAP Gladius

I was thinking about having the rest of the rifle dipped in multicam....barrel, action, scope, rings.....everything but the bolt.

Anyone have any pics of an entire rifle done in multicam.... preferably dipped?

I'm sure George would build you a 20" if you wanted one.

I was thinking the same Joe, but i've now switched plans to re-barrel my main rifle in 6.5x47L and save the Gladius as the go to .308. Not very practical but there is something sexy about 18"/20" rigs.

Depends on the caliber, but probably around 40 FPS.

Re: GAP Gladius

The standard breech length on a Remington Varmint contour is 2.0 inches. Depending on the tenon length and the recoil lug used, That does not leave a lot of room to chuck on in a vise for threading and chambering. The added breech length makes those processes much easier. It also allow the options of bedding the first inch of the barrel and setting the barrel back when the round count gets high.
