Yeah, when I first received the tracking number that kinda struck me as odd....unless they gave me a free case.
Should be around 6.2lbs for barrel, 1-2lbs for action, 1/2lb for brake, 1/2lb for Badger rail.
Specs are:
New Rem 700 action
Bartlein 26", 1:8 5R M24/M40 tube
Badger Thruster brake
Badger bolt knob.
Chambered for 6.5 Creedmoor
Black cerakote
I'm still at work and it's still boxed up....
I'm still waiting on the stock...
This is going to go in a Manners T4A with a DBM mini-chassis. GAP molded camo.
I have just over $1300 in it (as it sits now from GAP)...The action and recoil lug was a Christmas gift from my wife, which I sent to GAP to true and barrel.
That's not including the stock and everything else that's going on it.
So the $1300 is minus the lug and action? When I first looked and thought I could get a GAP barreled action for $1300 I may have peed a little.
That's still not too bad
Correct - add $25 for the lug (Badger 0.312" stainless) and the action was around $349 from Brownells (Black Friday dealer special).
$1300+$25+$349= $1674

Here it is...Thanks to GAP for providing me with a nice new OD green hard case for shipment. Thanks to Hoch for building my rifle. I hope it shoots as good as it looks.

at least you know who built yours mine remains a mystery. i think it was outsourced. looks great im sure it will shoot as good as it looks
That's an X-mark in the photo....it's what originally came with the action. I have a Timney that I will be putting in this weekend. No worries!

nope my $4,600 investment in a gap hospitaller came with no proof markings at all , when i asked who built it i was told who most likley built it ??? for a shop with precision in the name you would think the builder would have whacked a punch with a hammer and marked it? i love the rifle but if i was ever going to sell it i would have liked to be able to list who built it. it shoots great but i guess im just one of those hard to please pesky customers you always hear about.

Really? If it says GA Precision on the barrel and Hospitaller on the the other, I am sure you are good to go with resale. The builder stamp really doesn't matter as all of the guys in that shop are more then qualified to build a nice rifle.
If you are so hung up on proof marks, send it back and let them stamp it for you. Dogging a company on the internet because someone forgot to hit it with a punch and hammer is pretty lame.
I don't think he was dogging them too bad. It would be a big let down for someone if your build showed up missing something so minor as a proof mark. The reason it is a big deal, is that our rifles are very personal to us and it's nice to know who had a part in making it. GAP has a reputation for making great shooting guns, it's nice to be able to display their work with pride and a proof mark helps make that possible.
We all agree it doesn't affect how it shoots, it's just nice to say..."X made my gun and they work for GAP."

Can you get a better picture of the barrel/brake engagement?
Have you tried on your thread protector or suppressor yet? I'm interested to see how well the thread protector matches, Dustin told me that mine might not be perfect but my brake should be perfect.
Take a picture with the 308 barrel side by side for profile comparison please. I know mine will be a little fatter in #7 GAP contour, but want to see the M24/M40 compared to the Remington Varmint.

From what I can tell by just looking at it the thread protector will match perfectly, it's contoured for a seamless look. There ain't no way I'm taking the brake off to look at the threads....not yet.
My 308 shoots great for what I have in the barreled action...I'm happy with the way we went since I didn't need to take a second mortgage out on the house to do it.
Ohhh... and it's no where near 15.5lbs like fedex said - GAP included a case and packaged it very well. Had me scared I was getting a tree-trunk for a barrel. lol

I own a few GAP rifles... They never have lacked in quality due to a small proof mark. How many times do you find yourself at the range and someone asking about your rifle, you take that thing out of the stock each time and say "damn right! Look at my proof mark, this guy built it". That is superficial.
What should matter the most to you is the electric etching on the side of the barrel that says "GA PRECISION". THAT is what people look for when it goes up for sale. The proof mark has very little to do with resale. Its just something people obsess over for no reason, every person in that shop is highly qualified to build the best rifles out there.

I was kindly saying that our rifles are personal to us and it's nice to know who built it. This is something that you can't easily get from a factory produced rifle.

Trust me, Im not "fraggin". Im just saying that is ridiculous to be upset over the proof mark. If it matters that much, send it back.
If you have a proof mark, why are you defending the person I quoted? I want to know why they feel they got screwed over missing a stamp.
If it matters that much, box it back up and request the markings, Im sure George would take care of it. Their customer service is excellent.
Yeah, GAP only puts their logo on complete builds in the instance somebody screws up a bedding job or something like that with their personal basement gunsmith services. I wouldn't sweat it too much. Drop it in your chassis and it will shoot fine. I had a complete build from them and dropped it in a T4A mini and I couldn't tell the difference in accuracy.

The better question is why do you feel the need to waste your time arguing about something you find so pity and ridiculous? It's something they like and want and I doubt your opinion is gonna change someone's personal preference.... Stop trolling
all i know is that if i was a gunsmith to the caliber of the ones working at gap theres no way i would complete a build without putting my proof mark on it. for the money you spend on a complete build and the time you wait for it to be finished you shuold damn well know who built it. when i call and knowone can tell me other than check the proof mark and then there is none and they say well its rpobly one of these guys i think anyone with a normal train of thought would be curious as to why they dont know. their name isnt ga adequate its ga precision. im just glad i didnt buy the m40a3 instead i can imagine all the markings that would have been left off of that? how many eric reid built m40's have you guys seen on this sit demanding a premium, how would you like to have a more than likley eric reid built m40? like i said before i guess im just one of those customers thats to hard to please.
Spec rifles like the M40 series are not stamped because they are kept to military standards. GAP will tell you that right off the bat.
