Garmin Tactix 7 Unoffical Support Thread

Hi everyone, from all my research here and other forums I see different answers regarding pairing the Tactix 7 with a Kestrel 5700 Elite. Some say it works well, some say it's not fully supported ? Are some of you really using it for hunting or competition ?

I will either get this watch or the foretrex 901 for use in PRS Comps.

Honestly if it’s strictly for comps get the 901. The watch is awesome and not just the AB functionality. There is a lot it’s capable of and you’ll find yourself using it in many different ways. The AB functionality is cool and all and for me it’s a backup.

Daily watch wearer. I love my watch but I use it for all my tracking and mapping stuff hunting. If you aren't going to wear it daily, get the 901. If you like the smart watch and shoot comps, the Tactix 7 is really nice having that data available all the time.

I Second the last two comments. I love the Tactix 7, but it's also a daily watch for running and workouts. AB is a plus, but I only got it because it was an awesome PX deal. For field/team sniper matches, I still find myself relying on arm boards rather than the watch. I keep the watch connected to SIG6Ks for the small targets or past 800 yards. For PRS, I add the dope to the matchbook before the day starts and rarely find myself having the check or changing it during the match.

thank you for you answers guys. Now I have 2 more questions....
1. Can I use my Kestrel 5700 for environment data with both models so I don't have to input them manually ?
2. Would the AB Quantum app work instead of AB Synapse also for both models ?

I still punch in wind speed and direction manually on the watch. I use the watch sensor for pressure and a Tempe attached to my tripod for temperature updates. I hardly even pull out my kestrel and I use this linked to Sig 8k for nrl match use on the clock.
AB quantum does push profiles to the watch fine but you will have to build all your profiles in quantum. I cannot pull from the watch or from synapse to get my existing profiles into quantum.

ok guys.... I got the Tactix 7 amoled. I input all my profiles in kestrel Elite, AB Quantum and AB Synapse and whenever I transfer data to the watch it doesnt work. No error message or nothing but.... the range card, target card, target and even the environment dont change.

The profiles are all there but it doesnt update the data (range card, target card, target).


What am I doing wrong ?
