Garmin Xero C1 Pro chronograph

While researching the Xero and waiting for it to restock, I was set on getting a Pelican case and an Arca side mount. But the more I thought about it, I didn't see the harm of testing out a cheap Amazon zippered semi rigid case and using just the tripod.

It's been 2 months and 6 range trips and I haven't had a single scratch on the Xero and it fits perfectly next to my Kestrel in my range ruck sack.

The tripod is so easy to deploy and align that I never used the Arca rail mount.
There my be unique situations where a hard case and the rail mount could be useful but for me, a beginner reloader and occasional PRS/NRL Hunter shooter, i didn't end up using/needing either.

Try the $11 Amazon semi rigid zippered case and the tripod before upgrading accessories, it just might save you some $ but more importantly weight and space.

YMMY, happy shooting.

I bought one of these and love it:

Oh… me… I put it in a small draw bag with an offset arca mount and called it a day. Maybe you missed it, but we’re making light of the people above putting them in giant ass pelicans to take them to the range.

Sign of the times ... from a real online mailer today:

There have been some that used "points earned" and various other money saving deals.
I jumped and bought the XERO @ 600 PLUS Tax.
The Lab Radar copy cat (FX) does seem interesting.
Maybe @ $800 I would think about it.

Used prices? I guess if you are lucky.

I should have a big Orange one, used and with a mini USB power plug issue, on the way.

$499 Garmin
$300 PX Andiscan
$300 PX Lab Radar

Barely cracking $1k in total value with release of the Garmin.
Give @viking78 break. I bet he’s just saying what it cost him to assemble the radars.

Typically people don’t quote used prices or deals because those are too variable.

Sorry folks, i am from other side of the pond, so here the prices are a bit different, but if thinking the price as new, it is quite expensive
trio on that tire, no matter is is € or $.
Here is a video of Garmin Xero C1 and FX True Ballistic side by side at the same time.
Those are doing same reading, 6-shot´s and they were identical.
That Garmin is just so much easier to work with, and it is small and it has the Finnish operation system on it :)
Labradar copy does work better than the original, well in Finland the FX is better, because they had to cut down -50% of the radar power on
the LR in Europe, because the EU, and people are affraid, that the same will happen to Garmin too.
It is Finnish spoken, but put the volume down, and just look the screens on Garmin and FX.

I appreciate you taking the time to test and post your results, off a friggin' tire, in the snow and in temps that were probably -5c! I have a Garmin and an SQi and would also be interested if you had a chance to get results from the Andi. Keep up the good work Brother!

I posted this in the accessories thread but thought I'd cross-post it here for visibility - I'm making a MLOK mount for Xero, so that the bottom ACRA can be left free to allow full front-back movement of bipod/tripod.

I'm just making some minor tweaks and get hardware ordered but expect to be able to start shipping next Monday (2/12/24).

You can preorder it here: https://dotechne.com/garmin-xero-weapon-mount

Hi, as I can understand the EU version will be identical to the US version.

This info is from a Garmin Dealer in the UK:

So are they going to neuter this, just like they had to neuter the LabRadars? The UK has some strange EM restrictions....
Absolutely not, it's an EU regulation issue. US and EU cross compliance, nothing more. The units will be identical and will be in such short supply that it is extremely unlikely that anything from Europe will come back to the UK. I say come back to the UK, because all units destined for Europe come in to the UK initially!

Remember we are all unpaid beta testers for these companies, whether we like it or not….

They need YOU to take your time to report these things rather than actually paying someone to collect this info from threads they are sure to already be watching. Not to mention the dealers and collaborators already profiting here.

That is not why.

It is more so because updates, changes, etc are prioritized across the board. The dev teams have 2 dozen+ projects at any given time. By providing feedback along with other users it helps to triage based on urgency etc. If only one person reports this vs say 200 people reporting a feature they would like to see in a G3000 update. Then it gets pushed back.

Don't piss down my back and tell me it’s raining. There are bunch of user issues with the app that could have easily been fixed BEFORE rollout. I went through this crap with the Kestrel elite when it first came out. It was endless.

I spent 30 mins of my time offloading and reorganizing data into one spreadsheet yesterday after range time, to simply get it into one spread sheet. If a company like Garmin can’t figure this out us without harping on them, something is wrong.

Sessions that cannot be added to once closed (another session cannot be worked on while open)

Multiple sessions cannot be exported at once to one spreadsheet.

Session names that look like something some pin head geek came up with in a fever dream.

I could go on but it is just a list of common sense items that Garmin should be able to figure out.

I run a lot of tech from a lot of companies. Everyone of them wants me to drop everything in my day and go to their website and do a tech ticket and explain to them what they should already be working on to fix without me having to tell them. It’s endless. It’s a time thief!

I won’t even get into the stupidity I have to deal with your AB iPhone app that I paid good money for. That foolishness is gone for way too long.

Garmin needs to get their finger out of their asses and fix these things. They are selling enough of these and making enough money off them.

Meanwhile you could fix your damn app!

Geez, I was just going to comment on how easy it was to email the CSV files to myself, save them as an excel file, open them and paste the data into my custom spreadsheet. Much easier than the MagnetoSpeed was to transfer data.

Now the option to select multiple files to export I agree would be nice.

Session names seem fine to me. I also just tested the merging of multiple sessions into one spreadsheet. ctrl+c to ctrl+v and I had it done in less than 60 seconds. I can see where exporting multiple at once would be nice.

I know they are working on things, but the only way to get changes on the drawing board is to submit tickets. The more people who request a single item the higher the priority goes for that.

As for our app, it is currently being completely overhauled but I cannot say more. Just going to have to have patience and see.

Just ordered a C1. I just could not stomach the idea of trying to drag out the old 35P for all the shooting I have planned for this year. I expect I'll write up something on it with my experiences this year. It honestly looks like the first "does what you want it to easily" chrono I have seen.

Isn't this the original point that "spreadsheet mafia" was trying to get across?

Either way, I have enjoyed my Garmin. I still write my velocities, ES and ED in a notebook at the bench. Haven't missed the LabRadar since shipping it to a friend.

Slow day today so decided to try and design a case for Xero, a couple of things I want it to do:
  • Obviously, it should not change the accuracy and sensitivity of the unit.
  • Good impact protection all around.
    • Need to figure out what to do about the display though, I worry about adding an acrylic sheet and make the screen hard to read, so for now I'm just leaving it as a cut out. Were someone gonna make an exact cut screen protector for it?
  • Either
    • Maintain the bottom footprint to allow any existing accessories designed for an exact fit (e.g. the Area419 mount) to continue to work, which means it's not just a simple wrap around the unit, but rather it has to be elevated to allow for such form factor to be maintained.
    • Optional ARCA plate
  • Maintains/relocates 1/4-20 mounting point
  • Display the button label towards the shooter, with the option to even color fill it.

How many of you have used this in the snow? I’ve used mine twice while it was snowing lightly; the snow triggers the device to look for shots almost all the time and it missed a few shots during the snow. With a break in the snow the unit would to back to functioning correctly.

What is that, that you’re utilizing to mount the rifle to the wall??

I don't have the Garmin unit yet but I did notice something similar happen with the LabRadar.

The unit would trigger without any other gunfire or loud noises. This would always happen when the leaves were blowing around on the range.

Regardless of that, a friend looked at the frequencies that the LabRadar would operate on and said they were in the microwave spectrum and thought that there might be something else in the area triggering the unit.

Anyway, the false readings always seemed to happen on windy days with leaves blowing. On calm days without the leaves in motion it seemed to work fine.

I don't know if this helps you with the Garmin but you might be on to something.

Well I am a little behind all the cool kids but finally got my Garmin and got to the range with it today. Used it with my Vudoo and my 6.5 Creedmoor and it was easy to set up and didn't miss a shot with either. Pretty impressed with it. Velocities were also the same as they were with my Magnetospeed in past range sessions. Looking forward to using it more in the future.
