Hey GDI users. I'm having an issue with a GDI P-Rom mount.

As far I remember with the GDI mounts ive had and used, you're supposed to tighten the screw until it takes a "considerable" amount of force to lock down the levers.

My problem is, if I have the screws tight enough to lock down with a "considerable" amount of force, i cant get the mount on and off the pic rail. (I've tried on multiple rails)

So if I have the screws loose enough that I can get the mount on the pic rail, the levers are really easy to lock down... like use your pinky easy.

    Anyone have any ideas?

(I have tried contacting GDI multiple times now and never get a response)

What are you saying is, there is no middle ground?

you want to take it on and off and still have it very tight is that correct? You have to just find the spot where it comes off and is still super tight, a bit of trial and error

The rail is probably out of spec if you are overdoing it, so just find that happy middle ground.

Normally I find that spot where it comes on and off and call it good, or I am really worried about it, I tighten it down after it is on knowing I am gonna loosen it to take it off. Usually a 1/4 turn does it either way

Considerable force is a debatable number, a swag.

Yah Frank. There is no middle ground. It’s either it goes on the pic rail and the levers take no force to close, or it won’t go on the pic.

When you set yours up, how much force does it take you to close your levers? Like your pointer finger and a bit of pushing or mother #%^^##^£}}{#^ kinda force?

Ive tried it on 3 different rifles now.

Maybe its its time to try and give them a call again. Or maybe drop by their office since I’m only an hour away.

How about a little grease on the cam surfaces?
ADM mounts are the same way in my experience, but their design limits the adjustment to 1/6th of a turn of the screw (a hex dropping into a hex shaped pocket). I could never find a middle ground where I was comfortable with the clamping force but could still open the cams without a tool. Adding a little lube to the cam surfaces helped but not enough.
Once of several reasons I don't own the ADM mounts any longer.
