Geissele Braided Buffer Spring in an SR15 16”

Hoping someone has first hand experience with swapping the stock KAC buffer spring and buffer for the Giessele braided option. I’ve heard nothing but positive things about this new spring but I also know generally speaking KAC stock parts are above average. Worth the upgrade?

Try it and tell us how you like it. The stock spring and buffer is just mil spec.

My SR-15 is using a JP polished spring. It’s about half a pound heavier than mil spec, so it starts makes up for a gas port that’s specced for lower power ammo.

I run an H2 Buffer with a braided wire spring. It's not the geissele brand but it's the exact same thing. It smooths the rifle out so much. Buffer system is also loads quieter. Worthy upgrade

curious why you want to mess with it?? I run mine factory with a supressor and it runs super smooth and is
not overgassed ie; no blowback and mild recoil. I contacted Jack @kac and he said the only reason to replace
the buffer to an H2 was if you had ejection or overgassing issues which I haven't (Omega 30) I did put a Geissele
braided kit on my Colt 6721 just for shits/grins but haven't fired it yet.

I run the geiselle spring and all 3 tungsten weights in the geiselle buffer in my LMTs. Smoothed em out great. I haven't tried it with anything weaker than norma 223 77 grain match though.

I was interested because of all the hype. Normally a keep it simple guy but was wondering because why not try to make a smooth rifle smoother.

Depends on the gas system. The more overgassed, the more the Geissele will shine. But the better solution to that is a Superlative Arms AGB, and with them I've found the Tubbs superior.

For my 14.5” mod 2 SR15 I just run the what it comes with (HH and standard carbine spring). Is yours a mod 1 or 2? My friend has a 16” mod 1 that we can try to run the Giessele spring setup in if you’d like. But the buffer is setup as an H2
