So I'm wanting to get 2 Geissele triggers for 2 ar15's i have. One is an 18" "precision type" type AR. The other is a 16" carbine (all around use with acog). Now I've pretty much decided on the SD-E for the precision AR (unless y'all have better ideas). But, I'm in between the SD-C and the SD-3G for the carbine. Will i be better off using the SD-C for an all around carbine, or will i really like the SD-3G. I know Geissele doesn't recommend the SD-3G for really anything but 3-gun, but it seems like a real popular trigger online. The carbine currently has a 3.5# timney. The 18" has a factory mil-spec trigger. Just trying to make up my mind before i order 2 triggers. Thanks for Your time.

If possible, I would try to get my hands on both triggers just to try (maybe from a local shop or buddies who have them). I've tried the S3G version and own on SSA and they have very different feels to them. I like both but for a good basic carbine, I would trend towards the SSA/SD-C.

Hi OP,

Why did you choose the SD-3G for the precision rifle? Geissele's own note indicates it is probably not a good choice for accuracy applications.

Note: The SD3G trigger has a very short, light pull and reset. We do not recommend it for duty use, bench rest, accuracy work or shooting small groups. It is designed for close course competition use where rapid target engagement with quick follow up shots are required.

I would really look at the SSA-E or the High Speed NM - DMR. I use the SSA-E for my carbine and the HSNM-DMR for my longer barrel target rifle. Both have strong and good points depending on your desires. The SSA-E is not as adjustable as the DMR but there is also some serenity in that.

I just built a an AR-15 pistol and I am using the Geissele S3G due to its fast reset. Here is a pic of the pistol for reference...it is a blast to shoot.

I'm putting the SD-E in my precision unit. Which as far as I can tell is the same as the SSA-E just with a flat trigger. I had decided on the SD-C for the carbine until I started reading SD-3G reviews haha.

Actually the trigger characteristics are very different between the SSA-E and SD-E. Take a look..

Not preaching but just want to make sure you are making an informed decision. At the end of the day, it is your choice. At least the comforting thing is that all Geissele triggers are great.

BR,

BR,

Interesting. i was just going by each stages weight as stated on the Geissele website, because they are identical.

I run an SD-E in an all purpose rifle but it may be too edgy for some. It will never beat a 3G up close for speed but it can be jerked through pretty fast. Get it first and try it in your all purpose rifle before moving it to your P rig. You may end up with 2 of them.
