I was very happy with my Savage 110, but I wanted more. So Woody at Xringaccuracy hooked me up. It has a trued action, Obermeyer barrel AMU contour 28inch in a 9.4 twist, APA FB brake, upgraded recoil lug, no barrel nut, bedded action and a little paint. I luv it and can not wait to shoot it. I will give a range report after I get some rounds down range with it. [img:center]

Fine looking Savage. The AMU contour seems to be very popular. Are there many that are heavier? I have an AMU Rock 338 sitting in the box and haven't decided if I want to go heavier.

Thank you. They say the AMU+ is heavier, I guess a straight contour would be more as well? This one just kinda feel into my lap so I went with it.

What bullets are you planning to use with the 9.4 twist? I know the 300 grainers are no problem but not sure whether they have a huge advantage over the 250s.

I have a mixture of 250,285 and some 300 hundreds. When woody proof fired it Friday he used some 300 hundreds he had loaded and said they did real well. I will spend some time and try a few different loads other then what I already had loaded for the old barrel.

I'm continuing my research as well for an upcoming Stiller/Rock 338 build. My barrel is 9.4 twist as well and I would like to settle on a bullet to chamber my barrel to. The Sierra Matchkings and Lapuas are obvious frontrunners, but I'm starting to hear good things about Hornady's 285 with the AMP jackets.

The 285's I have are the Hornady match bullets. The first loads we did were a little light and a little slow but printed nice (old barrel). I will see how these others work tomorrow with the new setup.
