I'm thinking about using a ghillie suit for predator hunting but I don't know a durn thing about them. I'm looking for some suggestions on whether it's really worth buying a high-dollar one or building one from scratch? As opposed to buying a lightweight and inexpensive one?
I run a large (13,000 acre) hunting ranch here in South Texas and over the past few years we've become LOADED with coyotes and bobcat. Unfortunately, they are pretty educated since we offer year-round bowhunting (hogs in the off season) so it's extremely rare to be able to call them into our open fields. Mostly, I'm hunting in the brush with either a shotgun or an AR and they're pretty close before you get a view of them. Regular camo works but there are a lot of daytime sets where I feel like having better cover would give me an edge - a chance to see them before they see me.

Do any of y'all use a ghillie suit? If so, what kind do you use or did you make your own? Any suggestions on how best to make one - is there a good instruction book/manual/website?</span>
I'm pretty handy and I think it might be fun to make my own but I don't want to waste a bunch of time and money fumbling around trying to make one if there's a good resource to show me some of the basics of construction.
