Rifle Scopes Glass... Glass.. Glass. I keep reading good glass is everything. Vortex Viper glass opinions?

I would highly suggest no one use the “what the pros use” as a guide to buying.

If one did, everyone should go buy a dasher, an mpa chassis, diamond trigger, and an NF 7-35.

Those guys are fighting for any edge they can get in one another. Doesn’t pertain to most shooters.

The OP came here to solicit advice on a scope selection. The referal to what the best shooters in the nation are using is still valid as a reference. They would not be the best if their equipment was junk. The new pricing for Vortex scopes that are more competitve for the entry level shooter makes these similar priced lower quality scopes less attractive to many. How many of the top 150 PRS shooters used Athlon, Leupold or Simmons? Why buy something now for $1500.00 that you will replace in a year and have difficulty selling at half price.

You think any of those top shooters wouldn’t be the top if they ran an Athlon Cronus or a Leupold Mk5???

I own two zcomps, but I’m not gonna lie to myself and claim it makes me a better shooter other than peace of mind that I have exactly what I like. But if Athlon or leupold (higher end) meets those requirements, that’s fine as well.

Again, what the pros use is not a very good way to look at it. Hardly any of them are using 6.5 cartridges. So, by your theory, it’s not worth it right?

I am fully aware that a better shooter can take my rifle and shoot it better than I can. My point was that the difference in price of these second tier optics are only a couple hundred dollars apart. I don't see anyone of the top shooters using any of the ones mentioned including Leopold. Count the number of shooters who have placed highly with the Vortex Razor 4.5 - 27 x 56 [$3,000.00 optic only a few years ago] in the last three years and get back to us.
