Sorry but I can't help you with the Gen 5s. From Glocks website, the 19 x is about a 1/2" taller, basically a shorter barreled 17. I really don't understand it, just get the 17. That said the 19 conceals better. Depends on what you want to do with it. I've been carrying a Gen 4 19 for a few years, also shoot it in a couple matches each year just to keep sharp with my carry weapon. Mostly shoot the 34 for matches. I really like the glock platform, they will feed almost anything and are reliable. It's a very simple weapon to work on, and doesn't really need much in way of aftermarket parts to be competitive.
I have a Gen 5 17 coming in a week or two, just to give it a try.
