I have been looking for a holster for a G35. I really like the serpa holsters from blackhawk. The retention technique is what I like the most. I don’t see G35 as an option on black hawk’s website.

I would like to explore other options. I will be using the holster for the production class in IDPA, I currently use my serpa for this, just to give you an idea.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Re: Glock 35 Holster

I'll mention the safariland holsters as far as retention, I guess because have several friends who have them as duty gear. Several to choose from with hoods that are fairly quick to draw from, I didn't check but Im assuming they are made for the G35. If you don't need a hood or retention that locks its hard to beat the bladeteck holsters. Not sure what holsters are ok to use in production IDPA, but bladetecks work great and hold the gun in place during 3 gun competitions with ease. I've never personally been impressed with the serpas, Im sure they work fine for some, I just found other gear to be slightly ahead and quicker to draw from.

Re: Glock 35 Holster

Thanks I have looked at the safariland, they seem to have a belt on top for retention (from what I can see).

Most holsters will work for IDPA as long as the trigers are covered.

I have been leaning toward the bladetech. Both safariland and bladeteck have g35 holsters.

Re: Glock 35 Holster

If you do not need I believe its a class II retention and you can use a holster that does not have some sort of release mechanism I would say the blade-tech. I don't know as much about IDPA, but I've shot a fair amount of 3 gun matches and the blade-tech seems to be very popular. I had a friend who had a serpa and continued having difficulties drawing from it. So he wedged a stick into the release mechanism so he could draw without pressing the button. Needless to say the gun popped right out of his holster while doing moving drills with his carbine. For this reason I would say the blade-tech. Just draw and shoot, no gadgets to press but yet still has plenty of retention to keep the gun in the holster. Just my opinion though it would be nice if you had the chance to try them before you buy.

Re: Glock 35 Holster

Comp-Tac or Kytac is worth looking at. I have tried most of the other brand names and these are the best for IDPA that I have found.

Re: Glock 35 Holster

I wore a safariland triple retention on duty. I use both bladetech and serpa OWB (outside waist band) for training and comps, and comp-tac IWB for CCW carry.

You have to train a lot to get used to the serpa, otherwise you pull and then realize you need to hit the release, that just killed your time...

The bladetech has tension screws so you can make it pretty secure, or 'game it' really loose, but then it could fall out during movement. Also the screws fall out all the time so once you get it where you want it, use locktite, and have spares on hand for all your friends who are walking around with loose screws (no pun intended).

Re: Glock 35 Holster

with the serpas you have to buy the size for the fullsize, compact or sub gun in your caliber for instance for you g35 you need the one for a g22, or the smaller .40s . i use a serpa cqc for a g26 for my g34

Re: Glock 35 Holster

If you are going to shoot USPSA pro, find you a dropped and offset .... I wouldnt shoot factory 40 in it for production division either.

Shooting production everything is scored as minor ... there is no advantage to shooting major. SO if you reload, shoot some 40 minor loads for production.

I also shoot IDPA with a G35, but need retention for Sniper matches, so bought this
http://www.blade-tech.com/5.11-Thumb-Drive-Holster-pr-1274.html
I am a fan of SERPA but this holester is better in everyway, the thumb release is fast and secure, from horn to first shot I'm less than 2 seconds, thats not blazing fast like Master class shooters but competitive </div></div>

Thank you verry much, I really like the 5.11, that is more of what i was looking for

Thanks everyone for you sugestions.

Re: Glock 35 Holster

I use a safariland ALS (no hood) for IDPA. It's a great holster, doesn't slow me down at all. Before that I used a Serpa, which was just ok. Not as natural to draw as the ALS.

I also recommend Comp-tac.

Another great holster that I never gear much about is G-Code. They are similar to bladetech. I bought one for my dad for Christmas because he could get used to the safariland I originally got for him. He does much better with the snap in retention.

Re: Glock 35 Holster

I use one of these.. but doesn't look like they have the G17/22/etc model available right now.

It's cheap but works just fine for competition. I wouldn't wear it in a heavy duty use situation b/c it is a "plastic" not kydex. But for $10 it's worked fine for 2 years. Draws quick and locks up tight with screw retention.
