Sidearms & Scatterguns Glock Mods - Yes or No?

I say go all out. Just leave the trigger springs alone. I’ve cut the fuck out of m&p’ s & glock slides, changed out all sorts of internals and have only EVER had failure related to trigger springs. These guns are cheap and plentiful. And let’s be honest, if you don’t like it you can sell it probably for 75% or more, hell you could even make money if you think about it and market it right. (The world is full of impatient people, we all know gunsmith time is slower than the rest of the world) So it has the same diminishing returns as a stock or hardly modified with potential to turn a profit.

Anyone notice that the O.P. ghosted?? As far as mods, depends on the use....

On our duty glock 22's, little to no modification. Small inconspicuous magwells like the magpul as approved, slip on/stick on grips, slide drop extensions if necessary, and we can purchase our own sights that get installed by a rangemaster, myself or my coworker. That's about it.

My cc G27, I did a stippling job/slight trigger guard reduction, light hand polish on a couple trigger components, and +1 pierce mag extension. Already had steel night sights.

On my G35 for USPSA limited, TT sights, ghost disconnect kit plus a couple other light internal work, full length guide rod and different springs for tuning loads, TT +5 mag extension, SJC heavy magwell, and I did a stippling job/trigger guard reduction.

Not sure if you got the answer you were looking for but here is what I have done to my pistols and why.

I bought the Ghost Inc. 3.5 ultimate complete trigger kit: https://ghostinc.com/3-5-ultimate-complete-trigger-kit-for-glock-gen-1-4/
They have options for other generations and models of Glocks as well. This mostly is a nice to have. I really like the way that the trigger breaks. Pretty easy to install. Some folks have had issues with the way that this fits into the gun. You can, if needed, slightly bend it to fit. I haven't noticed any issues with the ones I have installed. I have done 3 or 4 installs myself.

Pretty much everyone agrees that the stock sights are garbage. I really like Trijicon's bright and tough night sights: https://www.trijicon.com/products/details/gl01
I like these because they allow you to see your sights at night but also are refined enough to use during the day. I have used other night sights before and the front sight post was so big that it was difficult to shoot at distance during the day because the front sight was so large that it covered the whole target and I couldn't get a good refined point of aim.

I also swapped out the magazine release. I like the Vicker's Tactical extended mag release by tango down: https://www.skdtac.com/Vickers-Tactical-Extended-Glock-Magazine-Release-p/tng.305.htm
Depending on the generation/model of Glock you have this may not be necessary. I have a Gen 3 G17 and the release was pretty small and hard to reach. I like having this for speed reloading.

Personally I consider an extended slide release a must have. I hate most factory slide releases because I have difficulty getting enough purchase on some of them while trying to lock the slide to the rear. I prefer the Vicker's tactical version the best: https://www.rockyourglock.com/custom/TDVTSS-001.htm
I prefer this one because while it does stick out a bit more it isn't too much in my opinion. There are many other manufacturers that have extended slide releases but some stick out pretty far and I don't like the way it effects my grip.

If I was trying to be minimalist, I would at a minimum change out the sights, mag release (depending on gen of Glock) and the slide release. I have all of the above MODs on both my Range/Competition gun and my "EDC". With the exception of the sights the MODs are all about $20ish each. You can find them cheaper on various websites. The links are really there just for reference. Brownells, Optics planet etc. will often have deals on these.

I hope this helps. I have enjoyed the difference that each of these MODs have made in my shooting. I will say that modding is much like tattoos or plastic surgery, once you do it once you want to do it again and again.
