Well can we utilize your math in regards to golds value? Because selling a "Quarter Section" to keep a remaining balance of 10 acres is funky business math.
A "Section" of land is 2.6 square kilometers (640 acres).

Gold is but a shiny object to be envied by those who have little or none.
They/Them that are the real purveyors collect it and make the rules about it's use as a commodity.
While they are collecting they'll depress the price.
Once collected price rises and they sell it to select schmucks with the forecast of higher prices.
Said schmucks may realize gains but many hold on as a long term investment.
Gold prices drop and some schmucks jump ship and guess who's buying and manipulating the market.
It really doesn't matter if it's gold, tulips or rubber dog shit.
The fundamentals left this market long ago.
