In the next few weeks or less I am gonna pull the trigger (pun intended!) on either a GAP or the JP .308. I have owned several GAP rifles over the years so I am very familiar with his work and how awesome it is! I am leaning towards the JP to try something different and I like the side charging handle. I am sure I cannot go wrong with either one but any last minute thoughts that may help?

The question is, which JP are you going with? There's a bunch of awesome options so I would ask what you intend to use the rifle for? If you're going PRS you can build up a nice heavy rifle or if you're interested more in hunting you can build up a pretty light package for packing in the woods. Heck you can even get a carbon fiber barrel straight from JP now.

There's a pair of one off 308s available for immediate shipping in the Available Inventory section. If any of the Ready Rifles match your specs those are usually a week or 2. Customs just depend on options, sweet paint jobs being the longest.

I don't have any experience with the Gap AR10, but I absolutely love my JP LRP07. Runs like a Swiss watch and amazingly accurate.

This X2......I absolutely love mine.......8" steel at 1099 this summer. First shot miss, saw my error made the correction in the scope second shot hit center steel. The JP is MONEY, no shade on the GAP, got a chance to see some of there sticks this weekend and to say they were nice is an understatement.

First world problem for sure. One question is why a .308, rather than, say, a 6.5 Creedmoor? Just askin', but the ballistics performance is so much better in that caliber than .308 it is worth asking.

I own two JPs in the LRP-07 model line, both fantastic shooters and fit and finish beyond sweet. If you reload, the adjustable weights on the SCS give you a lot of optionality for tuning.

I can’t throw ANY shade at a JP. I don’t have one, but have never heard a bad thing. I do however, own a GAP-10 in 6.5CM. It is incredible. I own several KAC’s, including an SR-25, and my bolt gun is an A.I., so that’s the type of rifles I’m used to, to give you a point of comparison.
My GAP is very regularly a .6-.75 moa gun. 5 shot groups, at 100yds. For a large frame gas gun, I feel that is awesome. Not 3 shot groups either. I have run my S&B 3-20 on it, and currently it’s wearing my NF ATACR 4-16 H59. I feel that scope on a gasser can’t be beat. My bolt has the 5-25 ATACR H59, so my reticle is the same between platforms.
I have nothing but praise for the way George and his folks build rifles. They have some magic dust that makes those Bartlein barrels shoot! Adjustable gas block makes it shoot with or without my can just awesome.
I’ll be glad to answer any questions about the GAP-10. Ive had mine about 2 years. VERY easy large frame semi auto to shoot, and shoot well.

Thanks for all the comments and thoughts. I really debated on the 6.5 Crd. but sadly I live in FL now and the idea of a long distance range here is 600 yds! So, until I move I think the .308 is more the enough. I actually do not hunt so it is only a fun gun/range gun. The more I thought about it- for FL a JP .223 may be better. I literally own 9 other AR's and no JP's though.

I have the parts to build an Aero 6.5 cred. with a Seekins barrel also. So, I may finish that build later and get the .308 now.

Both are Excellent rifles but it depends on what Purpose you are using the Rifle for, I have 3 JP Rifles ( 2-JP lrp-07 & 1-JP-15 ) I love all three to death and you can't find a better Rifle IMO but I also just bought a V7 Weapon Systems Harbinger .308 that is actually my Favorite of all of them. Nemo Arms makes a bad ass Rifle too, I have a Nemo Arms Battle Light Rifle and it kicks ass but is a .223.

Well, some dumb ass driver smashed into me with no insurance so the JP may have to wait some. 3500 damage! Anyway- I have all the parts to build an AR10 in 6.5 but I kind of wanted the JP, so for now it looks like I am going to finish the build and order the darn JP hopefully soon!

Change of plans!!! For some reason I talked myself into getting a Scar 20S instead of either one! I put one on hold today. Picked one up for about 500 less than the JP I wanted. The JP like I wanted configured was 4200. I know- I know- the JP is awesome but there is something about the SCAR 20 that screams bad ass too! Plus the guys over of the FN forums are getting great results with them. I cannot pick her up for awhile unless I sell off a few things but I will do a full review when I get it in.

I decided to sell off the 6.5 Creed. stuff I gathered to help fund this bad boy.

I'm looking at LRP-07 built in 2016. Do you know if the changes made between now and then warrant a new build?
