I need an action for my 338 RUM project and am wondering what would be a good deal on a used rem 700 long action with a mag bolt face? I want a BDL but there are several ADLs out there, can I make an ADL work with just different bottom metal? Sorry for the all the dumb questions. Thanks

Group buy getting ready to place on stiller actions. They cost more but if you dont have to get it trued or change the bolt face might be cheaper in then long run

I thought the same thing but I called and the cheapest they have is like $560. Cheapest base Rem 700 rifle I can find new is $535.

The ADL will work all you have to do is change the stock and get some bottom metal. I found the Rem 700 ADL new for $379 at Academy Sports here in TX, so that is what I bought for my build.

I picked a beat up 700 ADL in 7mm Mag from a pawn shop for 200.00. The barrel and stock looked like hell but the action was solid and shot very little. Had the action trued and put on a Krieger 31" 1-10 twist barrel and chambered in .338 RUM. Bedded into a McMillan A-5 stock with Badger steel bottom metal. So, for under 2k had made a poor man's 338 Lapua Mag. Nice rifle. Had to open up the feed lips on the action to get the 338 to fit through.
